....Patriot's son...That's the one.."Humpin' to Please". They used be as numerous as Shneider or Werner on the road. That's when Rt.66 and Rt.50 were the major EW and NS roads. Both within a few miles of me.
Here's my dad's favorite photo of all times. A copy of this photo
rests with him at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, here in San
Diego. He's standing in the front of that LCVP ready to lead his
men off onto Utah Beach, about 15 minutes after this photo
was taken. Company L, 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division -
'first wave in,' 6 June 1944. R.I.P.
...Dad in cowboy hat. His kid brother, uncle Frank (The Bulge, silver star, retired a bird colonel) waving. Pops was always the "cool" one. He had Harleys and Indians in the 30's. He liked the Henderson inline 4, but it overheated on the rear cylinders. Man, the stories!
Thanks, Jim! The top one is my wifes great grandfolks. Great grandma was 100% Cherokee, and survived the Trail of Tears when an infant. If anyone can ID the shirt that Dad's wearing, I'd like to know. It says "Drink", but I can't make out the brand name.
