My major is in Mechanical Engineering, but I do more work as a Manufacturing Engineer for a fortune 500 oil field services company. I worked my way through school as a Toolmaker and still do some CAD/CAM programming as well as some duties in the Industrial Engineering group. I work directly with the Manufacturing Shop and do jig and fixture design as well as process improvements on mill and lathe machining centers. I do a little software writing for machine controls and custom macro writing for machining centers. I have a good knowledge in metals and metal cutting. Have worked as a gunsmith on the side, and built a few test arms over the years. I am the jack of all trades in our ME/IE department.

I would like to say thanks for everyone who posted replys here. I found it very interesting reading. Knowing what someone does for a living, puts a different perspective when reading their posts. It does for me anyway.
Autobody repair and painting for 30+ yrs. 20 of which I was self employed. Also did some mechanical and welding repair. Due to an auto accident(not my fault) I now own a gun shop that has been open only 8&1/2 months. I like it better but have $1000's of dollars in tools that aren't worth much just sitting in my shop.

Grew up on a farm and started doing body and paint work during the summers while going to college....found out doing fiberglass paid more, so I endured the itching and specialized in Corvettes. Began doing custom paint work on show cars, exotics, street rods, and bikes...at that time wild flamboyant paint work was in (before decal graphics)....acquired the nickname "Rembrandt the Artist". Took a break for a few years and became a Snap-On Tool dealer, long hours....went back to the car scene. Managed a couple of large shops and worked at home on other peoples toys. Have had the privledge to work on some of the finest car ever built, Ferrari's, Vette's, Jags, Deloreans, Auburn Boatail's, Funny Cars, and collectibles. While doing my current boss's Corvette, he kept trying to get me to come work for him. Got tired of doing combat with cheap Insurance Companies so I took him up on it....best move I ever made. Work for a company that specializes in Agronomy Seed research. Work on projects that require a lot of travel, last year was in 30 states and numerous overseas locations (mainly South America). Meet a lot of nice people and see lots of new sights. Haven't done any cars recently, in what free time there is been doing our version of "This Old House", currently a carpenter, roofer, tile layer, painter, electrician, plumber, concrete worker, and whatever else Mrs Rembrandt wants....
as my name implies i work on harleys . as the owner of an aftermarket shop ( non-harley dealer) somes days it's sweeper , others it's accountant .....i could run with that for awhile .it is fun as i love the bikes .being in western new york winters can be long . it's slow then so it gives me ample time to hunt(deer mostly) and collect guns, fool arond on this site. i have enjoyed me time on this site . it seems that there is plenty of good people on it .i have felt, on other sites the down the nose stare .here i feel welcome .oop's i'm babbleing . bye, wrench .
Civil engineer/Land Surveyor for past 46 years, Have had my own business for the past 36 years. Now do mostly expert witness work in court...Highway accident investigation, construction litigation.
I am a humble locksmith for three resort properties where I manage the purchase, installation, application and repair of all security products, including locks, safes, alarms, and video equipment. I work in the security department which consists of a bunch of retired LEOs and a couple young chicks. Thats for the past 11 years, before that I was a cook, sous chef, and eventually executive chef, untill a doctor told me to find a new job or my blood pressure would kill me.
I really like to tinker with guns too.I took piano lessons for about 8 years when I was young but now my right hand only opens far enough to grip a 1911, so music is out for now. Oh yeah, 9 great years in the US Navy, should have done more!
My past jobs are wide and varied, construction, dishwasher, cook, pantry chef, store clerk, Infantryman (8 Yrs active, doing the rest in the Nat'l. Guard), farmer, cattle rancher, stable hand, apprentice farrier, bartender, bouncer, security guard, private investigator, hotel detective, and now I'm working for a friend doing armed security work and some process serving on the side. A soon as I finish my degree (Law Enforcement) I'm going to try to get a job with the US Marshal's Office.
I call myself a retired Dairy farmer! Only because that guy asked me would I sell my cows on 5/8/ 1992!!! I told him I never had a cow that I wouldn't sell if the price was right! then he asked for a price, I gave it and he said SOLD!!!! I have never experienced or expect to experience that kind of shock again!!! So today I am a District Sales Manager for a seed company and still do custom planting and harvesting for several neighbors. Couldn't sell the machiery and quit because the capital gains taxes would have been ridicuolous!!!! Everytime I hear a politician say we can't have a capital gains tax reduction I want to stangle the SOB!!! The other thing I do is revell in the satisfaction I get from starting a little projectile (.224, .243, .257, .284) down a steel tube and knowing within a fraction of and inch where it will impact a target at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 yards away!!! Sorry for not mentioning anything bigger than .284 but how much do you need to kill groundhogs?!!!! GHD
I'm in sales for the last 13 years. Also do some loss prevention for a local Dept. store. The rest of the time I'm on the computer, lifting or running. I've been testing for some police depts. lately. I'm on the hire list for 3 depts. and I'm testing on sept. 5th and 6th for two more. Always score in top 10 but I was never in the military and the extra 5 points they get puts me out of top 10. I'm a little bitter about that .lol.
I work in the sporting goods dept at a walmart supercenter. I am hoping to go into rice and soybean farming next year because I don't think I can handle the public any more. After 5 years I have lost most of my respect for them, theft(every day), rudeness, and my favorite thing is trying to put large air conditioning units or furniture in small cars were a person comes in with about 4 passengers.
My first and the job i love the most is being a Father...Second i am a Production Operator on an oil and gas platform...Not hard work most of the time best thing about it is that i only work six months out of the year.......

I worked construction when I was in high school at age 14. Pre OSHA times. Operated heavy equipt., drove trucks, finished cement, farmed, labored, graded and landscaped yards, worked in a produce distribution warehouse. I went to work for DuPont when I was 20 as a process control technician. Worked for them and the rat outfit that bought the plant for a total of 38 years. Moved from lab work to power house operations, water, waste water and steam distribution. That plant shut down in 1996 and since that time I have been employed by the Seate of Kansas as a boiler operator. Notice I didn't use the four letter "work" word. Through the fireing season it's kind of like watching your furnace run. Every one should work for a government agency sometime. It gives you a whole new perspective. I plan to retire next year and change my user name to:
I make my living stealing hub caps, and selling crack at the local playgrounds.

Worked my way through college in a butcher market. (hope NEVER again)
Taught school, sold John Deere farm equipment for 6 years until the 80's farm crunch hit big time, sold GM and Ford parts, real estate for a while, also involved in a family business for several years. Now, I put up with the characters that steal electricity for 15 years.
Not the greatest job, but makes a living. When I was younger, I followed the combine to pickup corn to have it ground into feed for my calves. sold vegetables from the farm , and such for spending money.
IF.....I could really do what I wanted...I would test cars for the factories, and work for someone like Remington, Sierra, and Leupold.

Know it all truck driver, professional tourist, dock worker, traffic analizer, book keeper, accountant, guardian of high dollar merchandise, negotiator, road hog, speed demon, constant violator of ALL HOS rules mandated by the federal government, harassor, did I mention know it all? And best of all, DEFENDER OF THE WIMPY .223! I love center fire rifles, don't have much time for handguns, I feel a shotgun is better than anything when it comes to self defense. I used to be an auto mechanic but gave that up because around here you will starve working on cars. Self taught computer geek.
But my favorite job of all is deer control for a few local farmers, I have killed more whitetail deer than most people will ever see!
I almost forgot, I am also a babbling idiot who loses his train of thought and just rambles on about nothing at all with no comprehension skills.
Work for General Electric as a Chemical Technician for the last 24 years. Worked in a coal mine for 1 year and decided that underground was not where I wanted to spend the next 30 years. I've also worked as a telephone lineman. Went into the Army in 1969 and Viet Nam (70-71). Got out of the Army in 1972.
I got intersted in shooting pistols about 5 years ago and started shooting in IDPA ( International Defensive Pistol Association). Wish I had started shooting at a younger age.
I do all of my own work at home ( carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.). I am basically a jack of all trades and master of none.
Believe it or not, I'm in the Media! I'm the rare, but real, conservative media guy! I am a News Anchor on Radio from 6 to 10 am, then I record a night show, you know, the DJ thing, where I run my mouth and play music. That runs from 7 to midnight, while I'm home playing on my computer posting on GB and checking out all the auctions I wish I made enough money to take part in!
