Most Weirdest Movie I Seen ...

edited September 2002 in General Discussion
I heard people talking about this movie "Requiem of Dream" even my brother wanted to get the movie and watch it. People had said it was weird and strange. I was going through the channels, and notice this two kids who were on drugs, and there was a mother who was always looking at this tv show she wanted to be on. The movie was interesting I like the camera shots, and some of the music. If you listen to sounds on the movie it kind sounds like music. I thought the character needed some really help. I felt for the characters to be honest. I even thought at the end of movie they would show them getting help, but they didn't. I still like the film. It was what you called strange and dark. Which I like!

weirdest thing I ever saw, a bunch of idiots using phrases my six year old knows are incorrect. like "most weirdest", "and needed some really help". What the fork does that even mean? Just one educated woman's opinion

Requiem for a dream is a look at the downward spiral from the inside.
It's about 4 people (basically good, but flawed), struggling for happiness, turning to drugs to achieve that happiness and losing everything in the process. It's one of the most original movies I've ever seen. The use of multiple camera angels, excellent actors (including a brilliant performance by Ellen Burstyn), and a haunting soundtrack combine to form an experience that will take you through an entire range of emotions. This is Darren Aronofsky's follow up to Pi. As the movie draws to a close it becomes more and more graphic as you're "plummeted into a nightmarish, gut-wrenching freefall." If you have any family members who use drugs you might consider showing this movie to them. It's an excellent example of how quickly your life can be ripped away by an addiction.

    michelle,
Not everyone has a handicap that shows, some do. For example, yours is your ego, and your compulsion to make yourself feel superior.

Im with Dadsfreehold on "fear and loathing in Las Vegas."
But I think the weirdest I have seen is "lost highway" and any John Waters film-"Desperate living" had to be the weirdest.

Munkey nice! that was funny... Yeah this movie is very disturbing. It was the best worst film I have ever seen. The people who put the movie together are geniuses but the content of the movie is SICK!!!

I do love "adults" that can't take constructive criticism. Munkey, it's obvious that your handicap is also feeling superior. Yours, however, manifests itself in the need to pycho-analyze others. As for me, is it wrong to wish that everybody spoke inteligently. If you never correct a child, they will never learn. If you never correct an adult, neither will they know the truth. ..and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall p**s you off.

    ....Ahhhhhh boy.
Michele-What is "inteligently"? I have never seen that word-at least with that spelling. Just a bit of constructive criticism.

michelle doesn't know anyone here well enough to criticize. Nor does she appear to know the difference between constructive criticism and rationalization for rudeness. I get the feeling this isn't the first time her opinion has got her in trouble -- her answer was too ready-off-the-shelf. So she knows exactly what her problem is; she's looking for a place to land. Otherwise, she would have apologized by now.

Fear & Loathing was funny, but not very strange -- at least for me. Now for some strange Johnny Depp -- in what might be his best role ever -- check out Dead Man directed by Jim Jaramush -- incredible (b&w) cinematography and a killer instrumental soundtrack by Neil Young.
Requiem for a Dream was strange, but it wasn't very good in my opinion.

    Gordian,
Put 2 of those on order for me while ya?
Oh yeah, and the gunz are nice too.

    michelle,
No hard feelings. I've done my share of thread stomping. Sometimes our criticisms come across as mockery instead of the helpful guidance we are trying to provide. Some people take our criticisms to heart, more so than others.

    dads,
Wanna hear something sad? It's become painfully obvious that my inability to consistently hit my targets is INDEED my fault(I was hoping I could blame my Jennings). Apparently I haven't practiced enough to rid myself of the pre-shot flinch. I can tell it's me and not the gun, because I pinned a 6 shot group(1 stray) all touching(from 5 yards). The only problem was that my group was 2 inches lower than my intended hit point. DOH! I guess lots and lots of practice is in order.

Is it ok to drop the slide on an empty chamber? I had no problem doing this with my other guns, but when the dealer did it with my Eclipse I cringed. I can't seem to let myself do it. Unless it's feeding a round, which I hypothesize buffers the slap a little bit, I ease the slide forward. Am I just being *?

I went to Meps today to take the DLAB. The test was VERY difficult. I hope I passed it, I find out tomorrow. Had an interesting thing happen today as I waited at the bus stop for my recruiter to pick me up. A guy sat down next to me, pulled out some type of curved blade pocketknife and began shaving away at a pen he had in his pocket. As he did, he looked over at me and asked if I had a dollar. Whether it was his intention or not, I took that as a threat. He didn't look particularly aggressive or menacing (5'6? 150?) so I wasn't too nervous, but I was on guard. I told him I didn't have any money and showed him I had a pocketknife too. I pulled out my small folder and held it so he could see it. I bs'd with him about knives and guns, after pretending to put mine away (still open and in my other hand). After a while, he caught a bus and moved on. That's the second time I've been asked for a dollar by someone with a knife, that routine must work pretty well.

Yeah a lot of freaks out there want free money. When I was stationed in Hawaii I had a guy try to extort money from me. All I could do was laugh and he went away(I'm 6'2" 230) I saw that same guy(Hawaiian) standing next to a soldier at the ATM a week later, stepped up and told the guy(new private at in processing)not to give him any money and told the other guy that if he didn't get off post me and this other guy were going to work him. He didn't say anything and left, got his friends LIC.# and called the MP station. But nothing came of it, too bad more people aren't up to protecting themselves.

Strangest Movie I have seen lately was a neo-western starring Johnny Depp and Robert Mitchum. Called "Dead Man" and filmed in black & white. Didnt make much sense and took forever to come to any point. Perhaps someone who saw the whole thing can enlighten me. swede

greetings, to sup'rmonk'y, practice, practice. i know the problem about the jerking finger, got one on both hands. tell you what i do, besides practice that seems to help . i squeeze a couple of spring retainers between thumbs and forefinger before going to the range. as i said it seems to help with my 645's. your ability to group shows that the accuracy (2" drop) is not all your fault and could be a weak recoil spring leting the slide recoil with too much force. to the others , altho i like watching angolina jolie my ideal of the armed female is more like uma & anna poohma. respt submitted dads-freehold

Hey Kirkland my buddy Steve was stationed in Hawaii. He and his buddy often went out looking for adventure and they found plenty of it in the natives, who he called "Mokas". He told me many stories of encountering these gigantic Hawaiians who were always looking to fight. He said two or three 300 lb. Mokas would come up, laughing and smiling and would say "Hey bro, you wantum beef"? This meant, "We are going to kick your *." He said they were always laughing. My buddy was pretty tough but he weighed 150. He got good at running away.
