How many people actually love to go to work in the mornings and feel they have a good job?

Mine wouldn't be so bad if there was nobody else there with me.
    Overall feeling is thumbs down...:(

I drive to Brooklyn NY everyday, pull into a huge building full of garbage that stinks to high heaven, get the trailer loaded with 47,000#s of garbage and then go to a landfill. Take a guess[:D]

I'm a custom builder, and I absolutely love my job...when business is booming. Things have been slow lately, and when that happens, I tend to hate my profession[B)] That and all this stinkin' snow and ice have put a hurtin' on us lately...need some inside work[:(] The gun sales, is a new business we are just starting, and I enjoy that a lot too...but I'm not really making any money at it[B)] I've got to get some work soon, or I'm going to be in a world of hurt. The only project that I have lined up is an outside job and I have to wait till the weather breaks.

I really love my job. Being retired is a 24/7 proposition. Currently I have about 10 projects going on so I play on the 'puter till 10 to 11 am deciding on what to work on for that day. Then work on that project till lunch, then of course it is siesta time. After that it's back to the grind till quitting time.

And keep in mind that this is a 7 days a week job, no holidays and weekends off, and no vactions.

But then I do take 2 afternoons off to go shooting. Only because the range is open two days a week (I wish they were open more).

I show up about 1/2 hour early, and hang around work for a couple of hours after I punch out. So you could say I enjoy my job.

I can't imagine having a better job. I'm not confined to an office, I'm inside or outside depending on MY schedule, I don't have any boss other than my schedule and I work when I want to schedule cases.

Well, I am thankful that I have a job...but...I'd rather find something other than sitting in a gray cubicle for 9 hours a day. With the new little one on the way, I am currently looking for something that pays better - it's a challenge to feed a family on one income - but we do have all of our basic needs met - and I AM thankful.

Ideally, I'd like to work from home. My wife have talked on and off about different ideas but haven't really settled on one. We talked for a long time about buying land and starting an apple orchard (my dad has a lot of experience and could help us out), but decided we weren't ready to risk supporting our family on that income alone. I'd really like to either farm in some capacity, or to make something. Farming skills I have - fine craftsman skills I don't have - it's just I love the thought of having my own woodworking shop and making money from it.

Bottom line is, we are really trying to figure out a way that I can make enought money to support us by working at home - and as long as I get to work with my hands some of the time.

I like my job and this year they changed the floater time like vacation. I will get 12 weeks vacation this year if I take vacation on my short weeks. I rotate 12 hour shifts,2 weeks days and 2 weeks nights, work every other week-end which takes a lot out of me.

I have a Heating & A/C company here in south Texas. Since I've gotten a little older, I've cut down to just myself and a old freind as help. In the summer we work a little hard, but winter is very slow and allows me to get ahead on honeydoos. I quess you could say I'm semi-retired as I can usually make my own hours (except summer) unless there's emergencey calls or the weather is extreme. We have a lot of fun working and joke around a lot during the day. I make no "clock-in, clock-out" time, we work when needed. We may quit work at 2 p.m. or go on till 10 p.m.. Of course when the customer calls- we go right away the same day if it's important.
I started this business 14 years ago when I lost my job, had hardly a penney in the bank and ate franks and beans a lot. It was worth the chance I took because now I have a secure job and make more than I ever could putting the bucks in anothers pocket.
**skywatcher-- You have to decide for yourself, but if you never take the chance, you'll regret not taking the risk to employ yourself. Make or break, you will have at least taken steps away from that little space you will be in for a lifetime. Decide what you want, be willing to work your * off for 3 to 5 years to get established, and good things will follow, but you must be tenatious and work like never before to make it happen. Then the day will come where things just happen and it gets easier and others can take some of the load.****Quality, Fair prices, and Honesty**** makes you steps ahead of the fly-by-nighters!
Oh! Yea! I like my job!

I love my profession but hate my current job. I also detest the people I work for.

The ONLY reason I continue to drive 4 hours round trip every day and spend 8 1/2 hours a day at my workplace is because it allows my family to have a good life (albeit without me most of the time).

I would have to say I like my job very much. It allows me time

    importantly Family time.

Usually I have a GREAT job. But right now I'm short a Parts Mgr , Expeditor that I have to take up the slack on until replacements are found.
Then to top that off, this morning I got drug test results back on 5 of the field service people. 3 failed their 2nd chance test & had to let them go this morning.

LOVING LIFE. Semi-retired and just buy and sell wholesale cars. Most of my days are spent chasing my son, playing with my guns or tinkering with cars/4wheelers/motorcycles. I have a lot of hobbies: animal rescue, reloading, and online auctions. You gotta enjoy life.

As a community college professor and program administrator, I thank God every day for it. A chance to make a difference every day. I worked for broadcasters a long time, too, as well as in fund-raising for a brief time. There's no perfect job. But this one comes close to it for me.

I love my job and the horse I rode in on. Yeah right. I have been driving a truck for 31+ years and it doesn't do anything but get more restrictive and less fun. The Company I drive for is really good and we have a wonderful local management team so I really don't have any complaints. Guess I'm finally getting burnt out but it doeas help support my bad habits. You know...like eating, sleeping under a roof, driving to work etc., etc.

I like my job ok.I am an electrician, mostly industrial stuff but as you all know, our manufacturing base is dwindling.I have been thinking about starting my own business installing home theater equipment and /or buying fixer upper houses and renting them out. The main thing I want is my OWN hours and making myself rich instead of somebody else.[^]
