    sounds like my cavalear. bought it new in october of 01(its an 02). right now it has a few over 210,000 miles on it. so far ive replaced the wheel bearings twice and the front drive axles once. origional clutch,tranny, and engine. doesnt have any heat any more(mice moved into the heating ducts when the axles got replaced and have to tear the front end apart to clean it. i took it to 2 different garages and thats what they said.) ive changed the oil faithfully and driven that car hard. hit 2 tires on the highway at night, spun out on ice and almost hit a tree, goofing around with the e-brake in a rane storm ran up into someones lawn, dozed off and hit a construction barrel on the way to work. cars a mess but it starts right up and goes. every time without fail. i wish id have bought 2 of em.

    My fil has a 2003 F250 with the 6.0 best he ever go was 18. The truck was never abused, he bought a fifth wheel trailer and hauled it from L.A. to Phoenix. Had been off road twice, other than that never used to tow anything, and the off road was weak at best. Then this spring at 84000 one whole bank of injectors failed. 2 months later the turbo let go, 1 month after that whole motor had to be replaced. Total for all repairs $21000. He may have gotten a lemon I don't know but I do know that I wouldn't buy a ford now if it was cheaper than anything else.

    Your red and white Ford, I don't know what year it is, it's between 1987 and 1991. I had a1991 Ford 1/2 ton 2wd, the biggest POS I've ever had. I've had 2 Dodges, 1 Ford, 1 Chevy and 1 GMC. Everything was great except the Ford.

    I aint had a Chevy yet that would get that kind of milage out of a set, but then again the last new Chevy I bought was in 93 and that was a disapointment, they quit building trucks in 1987 as far as I'm concerned.

    G&P, what is left in the tank will go quick, nah I won't get 900 but I have pushed it close to 700 ice creamfootin the throttle. Of course that milage is with no trailer or load [:D] That fuel gauge is funny, fill er up and it don't move for a long time, once it hits a half tank it drops fast, that fuel that is left in it may get 75 more miles under normal driving.

    Chevy built trucks? I had a couple of those Chevy imitation trucks that lasted less than 100k. Couldn't handle being used every day to pull my bobcat or my work trailer. Went back to a real truck a F-350 Ford. I have over 200k on this one and still running strong.

    I'll put my stock Dodge 3500 dually flatbed up against any truck out there. 116,900 miles and still running like new. Not 1 problem with motor or tranny. And I have a 2008 Ford 1 ton and a 2008 Dodge 5500. I hope they are as good as old grey!

    And yes, they work for a living.

    Nothing like bringing up an old year and a half thread to post an ad for diesel truck parts. [xx(]

    I hate to rain on your parade, but the 2003 Silverado got 65,000 miles out of the stock tires. And that was with a lot of off road miles where the rocks cut chunks out of the tires.

    I have had good luck with both ford and chevy trucks...I haven't ever owned a dodge, but I drove one for a demo and I really hated it, motly because the turning radius was the size of a walmart parking lot...
    The true test of a truck is how long it lasts after it's paid for and after the warrantee expires so;

    Granted my 2004 Explorer is no diesel but I'm happy to say that I only stuck $3500. in it this year. Nearly a complete front end overhaul and a new rear end plus some other work, all with less than 70k on it. Could have bought a few nice guns with all that money.

    I would trade my 07 Laramie 35004wd dually crew cab in a heartbeat for that.

    With the 5.9 it is the last of the mohigans. My hunting buddy has a 6.7 and gets terrible fuel mileage. I have had her two years in Jan. and probably wont do 10-12k mile this coming year in it. Should last a while since I am driving a car for short trips. It is also a laramie.

    I have a 2002 F250 7.3 6-speed that will do everything that Pa Redneck said his would do. If I keep it under 2000rpms and in 6th gear out on the open road it will get 20+ mpg.

    Well good for all you Dodge owners. I recall that Dodge was a lot like the Saints football team for a long time. Its about time that Dodge gets a leg up. With all the government bail outs Dodge has gotten, they should do okay for a few more years.
