    umm Einstein: E= MC^2,
his theory proved mass can be converted to energy, which is exactly what nuclear weapons do. Im not sure of the level of his involvement, but the claim he had nothing to do with it, not even the theory, is wrong, leading me to doubt the entire claim.

1 Washington - made us americans

2 Jefferson -played a large part in the above

    3 Ben Franklin- ditto

4 Lincoln - Kept us 1 country, expanded freedom

5 R E Lee - Stood up for rights of the states, too bad he was on the side with slaves, or hed be looked upon much more favorably in places outside the south

    6 ML King

    7 FDR/Truman for WW2

    8 Wright/Edison/Ford- advanced american technology

    9 Browning/Colt- advanced american firearms

10 Ummm some indian cheif that tried to stop the white man

(notice like Lee just because they lost and fought against the US GOVERNMENT, does not disqualify them from the list, while some that were too friendly to the govt were kept off the list because of it)

By the 40's Einstein had been surpassed by Planck, John Von Neumann, Heisenberg, Fermi and Neils Bohr. Indeed, it is his dispute with Heisenberg and Bohr over Quantum Theory, which replaced Einstein's Classic Physics, basically relagated Einstein to the second rank. All in 'the know', which were the people who were working on the problems of the atom and cosmos, knew this. The rest of the world did not.

This doses nothing to in any way reduce Einstein's magnificant contribuation's to sceince, simply to show that even the best of the worlds scientist have a ego and don't like to see themselves overtaken!

If I can't spell, so what!

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
