Ford or me. That Toyota is one butt ugly truck.
That was my biggest reason for not going Toyota. I had to look at it..[xx(] If they fix the lines I might try one next time.

They do make them with 8 feet bed ...
That looks horrible.
WOW!
I don't see a problem myself.
Any king cab truck, with a full length bed will be just that,.....long, and a PIA to park in certain circumstances.
That would actually be the model I would most likely purchase BTW.[;)]

Harley Davidsons are the same way...If you took the foreign parts off of them they wouldn't leave the driveway. Toyotas are just as expensive as the Fords, Chevys and Dodges. Why is that since they don't use expensive "union" labor? Are they soaking the consumers? Dont bash the unions just because you dont work for one. I'm a proud IBEW member working for a Utility company. Our wages are about the same as non union members where I live.
because they buy quality american parts that naturally cost more than foreign pot metal parts. The reason GM, Dodge and Ford are so expensive is because of the legacy costs from union pensions. instead of putting the money into quality parts, they jack up the price to cover those costs.
BTW the MSRP between the GM and toyota are remarkably close
If you buy new vehicles every few years, like folks probably should, the Fords or GMs will probably be fine. But if you keep vehicles forever, like I do, you will be better served by the Toyota.I worked hard for the money I have and need to get the best bang for the buck.
Toyota's wheel wells look weird, they need some type of border. I dont like the looks of the front end and the interior on the ford laredo is way nicer. Since I trade in every 2 years I dont care much about waranty. I have owned 7 toyota vehicles but until they fix the ugly on the truck I aint buying it. [^]

I test drove a 2008 with 8' bed and is actually not too bad. Perhaps because I drive a Suburban. However, I didn't have a need for a long bed so I opted for a SB.

I can see if people CHOOSE to trade every few years, but that choice shouldn't be MADE FOR THEM because the vehicles won't last much beyond warranty (if they last that long). When I buy a vehicle, I buy it to keep it until I'm ready to get rid of it.

Honestly looks are one of the last things I would consider in a truck that I would be using for, I wasnt completley thrilled about the lines of the newer tacoma bodystyles....but after owning it and getting the performance out of it I have, those lines have grown on me.
I suppose its kinda like how glocks are. They are not exactly what most folks would call pretty, but glocks do tend to be very reliable firearms and the owners often tend to have the looks grow on them.

Thats a good analogy but..... I dont have to look at a giant glock every morning when In the driveway. Maybe if you could holster the Tundra. [:D]

Can't agree with you more. I sold a 90-91 straight 6 to a freind in the concrete business. Rusted out but he's still using it! Had nothing but 150's for over 35 years and guess what . . . .Just bought a Toyota Trundra. My last F-150 had alot of small constant problems. Toyota had much better reviews and so here I am.
Welcome to the dark side![:p]
This debate will go on for many years to come. The name brand loyalty passed on by generations will always be there which is a good thing. I have no brand loyalty other than the best bang for my US buck. Like others, we would all love to have everything Made in the US that will deliver the best bang for our buck. Until then, the Toyota Tundra simply satisfies my requirements over F-150 with flying colors. [^]
Agree with you and your notions here at least 155%
Heck if things don't get better, TOYOTA will probably really confuse us by buying out FORD to catch the BRAND loyal folks. [:(]
Toyota would them probably have the extreme majority of truck sales.
They could manufacture trucks that are bought for being Patriotic, or for American, or for Brand Loyalty by the buyers = FORD (and even TOTOTA).
They could also manufacture quality trucks for those that purchase for the biggest bang for their Buck and those that want quality = TOTOTA ! ! ! [;)]
WOW !!!
I can't believe this thread is still going !!
I did originally post it to stir the pot [I'm a Chevrolet man] but it got more attention than I expected.

It's more than likely that it's the driver/owner of a vehicle regardless of brand that need to be holstered.
I am a gear head. Always have been, cars, trucks, dirt bikes, streetbikes whatever. I HAVE to like the looks of a vehicle to own it because a vehicle is an extension of my personality. The Toyotas are butt ugly to me. I know they are very well built and dependable but so are ugly chicks and I don't date them either!
Actually I much prefer the Ford F250 to the F150, but I would buy the F150 over the Toyota.
BTW am I the only one that sees "TRD" on Toyotas and immediately thinks of "turd"?

My 2011 Tundra DBL Cab 4x4 5.7L V8
The American Made-Index (AMI) published by cars.com explains that the F-150 has 60% domestically manufactured content. The AMI rates vehicles on where supplied parts are manufactured as well as where the vehicle is ultimately assembled. The index disqualifies "models with a domestic parts content rating below 75 percent" from consideration for its annual top 10 lists. Ouch. The F-150 didn't even compete this year.

The F-150 is the all time #1 seller of pick up trucks by far the better choice by choices.
... and they should be, after all they've been around since 1948 compared to Tundra's 1999.

10 Tundra Doublecab 4x4 5.7L
The Tundra is head and shoulders above the Ford in ALL Aspects.
Power, drivetrain (14" 5.30 rear gear), Fuel Mileage, Fit and finish, and overall quality.
The Tundra is a MUCH better truck.

Only thing I expect to be disappointed in whether it be the Tundra, or a Ford, is the backseat.
The Avalanche is virtually a full size rear seating area. Plenty of room for all but the largest of folks, and very easy to get in and out of.
Nice one Cubs![;)]
