Cowboy, thanks for thinking of it anyway. always wanted to see kansas. never been west of the big river before.
chappsy, most of the families in my complex have a stay at home parent.
but it seems i'm headed back to the mountains of WV. I've already started looking at jobs back home. I know a couple of gunsmiths back home i can work with and a few gun stores. I found a class 3 manufacturer back home too. must be new. never heard of them before.
plus, i can always work with dad on some days cutting up deer for the season. they cut up 11 yesterday and 16 on monday. plus i can always go over to grandma's mountain and just shoot the hell out some targets any time i want too.
anytime you guys find yourselves in my neck of the woods, i'll show ya around...

Love it up that way. Use to spend a lot of time in Nettie and Leivasy.
Good fishing, hunting and great people. I use to love stopping in at the small sporting goods store at the junction of Rt20 and 39 near the Go Mart..
We go through Richwood a lot of times when going to our camp in Greebrier co. I would rather take that route to Marlinton or Rt 60 to Lewisburg than I64.
Good luck to you and yours at whatever you set out to do.
Any of you fellows ever heard of a small West Virginia town of Ivy Dale? I have a good old buddy that I have not seen since I was young who grew up there.
LesWV, next time you run through, stop by that U-save. my mom is the manager there.ya can't miss her... unless your tall...hehehe.. she is short. 4' 10"....but full of pi$$ and vinegar....
you may be right. my lack of transportation though is a huge deficit though. the first thing i'm going to do is get my license straightened out. doesn't matter the job if i can't get to it. i'll be able to rebuild faster back home...recharge...i may have to depend on dad to get me to and from until then, but if he's ok with it...then i am.
I'm no stranger to field work. i'll take any job available.
a part of me does feel like i have let them down though. that's just something i'll have to deal with.
If you don't have a car or driver's license, and if you're really looking for work, West Virginia is not a good place to go. It's spread out and the economy is poor. Most of the country is in a recession, and rural areas are especially hard hit. Cities, and especially cities heavily supported by the federal government, still have lots of jobs and have decent public transportation.
If I were you I'd scrape together a thousand bucks and find a room on Craigslist somewhere around Washington DC. Then you can work two jobs and pile up some money. You'll be able to catch a bus to where you need to go, and there are lots of service industry jobs around here. There are also higher level jobs. Once the money starts flowing in, you'll have some bucks to buy a suit, a beater car, to print out some nice resumes, and to climb back on your feet.
You'll also, of course, deal with all sorts of rude, pushy people; litter; traffic like you've never seen; and high prices. Comes with the territory. It's called the smog of properity.
if i had the means, I'd stay here in Columbus and fight harder for a job...but I don't have the means or a place to live. Since I haven't worked in 3 months and have to be out of this apt by sunday, i have no other place to go but back home to WV. it'll be hard, but i know i can rebuild there faster than if i were to stay here right now. for the first time since my DUI, I actually feel like putting up a fight...i just need some help. Here, i have no friends, no family...the only people i have had to talk to has been all the great people on here. just getting some of this stuff out with you guys has been hard, but very good for me. i'm starting to feel a fair bit of confidence again. something i haven't felt in over a year.
and for that...HAPPY THANKSGIVING..... because of you guys, I can say I have something to be thankful for this year. and now...i'm going to bed.

Kroger store or Wal Mart pharmacy's are usually hiring.
(I think there's a wal-mart in Summersville)
Isn't this the time of year UPS puts on temp help? Big distribution center in South Charleston. (May be able to help find a place to stay there)
The Kanawha valley's got great bus service. (one every 15 minutes on main route between Montgomery and St Albans)

If you are in WV, i know for a fact in the north there's a lot of gas drilling goin on........get to where that's goin on, and you WILL find a job. In the patch, there's a lot of guys that will give you a ride to work and home every day.....and it will make you a lot tougher than you are, not just physically, but mentally as well. The only experience needed is a 'want' to work. Only place in the world that a twentysomething can show up and make 6-1000 a week take home and actually get ahead in life.
that's where I'm hoping to get on. Summersville is only 30 mi from home and is an easy drive. and i just heard they are putting in both a new walgreens and cvs. I have already been looking online, and i'll be doing more.
Dad made it here ok. made really good time. we've eaten and he's already napping on the couch. he told me one of his rifles is frozen and wants me to look at it. things haven't been used in 20+ years...i'll be getting on probably sunday to ask for advice on it. i dunno which rifle it is.
if anyone wants to email me, it's aramisvi@hotmail.com or aramis_vi@yahoo.com
thanks everyone for all the help, support, prayers, advice and friendships.
thanks sir. it took some hellacious (sp?) blows like a good prize fighter here...but i'm not down for the count. to quote the good general "I shall return"
