Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) - Ford receives government assistance for the production of fuel efficient vehicles.

As part of its initiative to promote fuel efficient vehicles, the Obama administration on 23 June 2009 announced that it will lend US$5.9 bn to Ford Motor Company (Ford) from the US$25 bn program created in 2007 to enable automakers to meet new fuel efficiency standards by 2016. The repayment of these loans by the company is expected to commence from 2012. These loans will enable Ford to upgrade 11 plants across the US to produce fuel efficient vehicles and support its planned investments of US$14 bn in advanced technologies within the next 7 years. Furthermore, these loans will support the company's plans of launching hybrid vehicles over the next 2 years. However, our outlook for the company remains unchanged and we maintain our SELL rating for the NYSE common stock. We will reassess our target price and rating once the company announces its 2Q 09 results.

The article you posted is about R&D and is pretty common in any new start up technology.

Bail out money for R&D. LMAO
If that is what you call a bail out. Then you are about as stupid as they come. For if the government does not offer money for R@D to companies. Then all they would have to do is tell the government to shove it, we do not have money to develop a car, truck, lawn mower or even * wipe for that matter to meet the standards that YOU THE GOVERNMENT sets.

Just thought you would like to know
To their credit, for bad business practices they didn't.

that sounds like a rationalization.
1. Ford applies for and receives a loan to upgrade facilities and assist in the development of new products. The lender is the Federal Government, and a specific arrangement is contracted for repayment of debt.
2. GM and Chrysler yield their Boardroom to the Federal Government and the UAW, use the power of the Federal Government to change a century of bankruptcy law precedent to steal bond-holder money, and leave holders of common stock with nothing.
What, now is the connection?
My God, man, if you are going to shill, at least pick something that remotely applies.

So by your logic, ever loan underwritten by the US gov. is a bailout? Now that is a stretch.[:o)]
Where did I state ford took a bailout? I said they got govt. assistance. Geesh.
Just one post back
Uhh...do you read your own posts?
From your post on 09/29/2010 at 10:34:35 AM you stated:
"They [Ford] took money from the Govt. and have to repay it. Loan, bailout.. whatever."

Ford Australia gets government bailout
The Australian government is taking a much softer line than our own administration it seems as Australian prime minister John Howard has just announced that his adminstration will be providing Ford Australia with a boost of $40.4 million (AU$52.5 million) to ensure that the automaker's AU operations stay afloat. The design and production of the next Ford Falcon and Territory, to be built in Australia, take up much of the pot, accounting for $30.8 million of the investment. The remaining funds will go toward building a new light international vehicle platform, which will necessitate the construction and staffing of a new research and development center.
Assistance is Assistance.
And A-holes are A-holes.
I looked up A-hole in the dictionary the other day, and there was a photo of some guy buying a fancy Camaro at Earnhart Chevrolet [:D]
Assistance is Assistance.
yeah, you know, like if a guy gets blown up in Iraq and receives disabled Vetran benefits. Same damn thing as some getto trash pumpin out babies on welfare.
Good logic Gary. You're not soft in the head or anything.

The best you could find to help advance your point is a blog that is more than four years old. [:o)]
They took assistance before O was President. Amazing
If I used the money you spent on two camaros to buy land
I would have something worth keeping.[}:)]
Land would come first. Toys later.[:D][:D]

Before? As opposed to after he was President .... of Australia? So we move from equating R & D money to bailout money, but to come up with "bailout" money we move on to the actions of another government, another country. I swear, some folks never tire of carrying water.
Ford was drunk once and had a one night stand out of wedlock.
Chevy is just a whore that rolled over.
Just a comparision
Yeah but they both took Govt monies.
We got SF against the entire GB forum.[:p]
