Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) - Ford receives government assistance for the production of fuel efficient vehicles.
June 24th, 2009 Suraj Leave a comment Go to comments

As part of its initiative to promote fuel efficient vehicles, the Obama administration on 23 June 2009 announced that it will lend US$5.9 bn to Ford Motor Company (Ford) from the US$25 bn program created in 2007 to enable automakers to meet new fuel efficiency standards by 2016. The repayment of these loans by the company is expected to commence from 2012. These loans will enable Ford to upgrade 11 plants across the US to produce fuel efficient vehicles and support its planned investments of US$14 bn in advanced technologies within the next 7 years. Furthermore, these loans will support the company's plans of launching hybrid vehicles over the next 2 years. However, our outlook for the company remains unchanged and we maintain our SELL rating for the NYSE common stock. We will reassess our target price and rating once the company announces its 2Q 09 results.

To their credit, for bad business practices they didn't.
The article you posted is about R&D and is pretty common in any new start up technology.

There is a heck a lot of difference in accepting 75 billion dollars to keep a company going from bad business practices and becoming government motors than some R&D for and upstanding company to promote and better build the future.

Ford would still be in business with or without, OTOH, GM would already be owned by the Chinese by now....

About saturated my shorts from reading that. In other words. I about pissed my panties from laughing so hard at your lame attempt to make yourself look manly for supporting Oboma wasting my tax dollars on GM.

Bail out money for R&D. LMAO

If that is what you call a bail out. Then you are about as stupid as they come. For if the government does not offer money for R@D to companies. Then all they would have to do is tell the government to shove it, we do not have money to develop a car, truck, lawn mower or even * wipe for that matter to meet the standards that YOU THE GOVERNMENT sets.

    Quite a stretch Mr. Fire.

    1. Ford applies for and receives a loan to upgrade facilities and assist in the development of new products. The lender is the Federal Government, and a specific arrangement is contracted for repayment of debt.

    2. GM and Chrysler yield their Boardroom to the Federal Government and the UAW, use the power of the Federal Government to change a century of bankruptcy law precedent to steal bond-holder money, and leave holders of common stock with nothing.

    What, now is the connection?

My God, man, if you are going to shill, at least pick something that remotely applies.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

Did y'all miss that part of the article that says it is a LOAN and they have to REPAY it? Your taxdollars at work. BTW it is to upgrade their factories. Upgrade? You mean if they aren't upgraded they will go out of business? [;)]

Not just our Govt. but Australia too

    Ford Australia gets government bailout

The Australian government is taking a much softer line than our own administration it seems as Australian prime minister John Howard has just announced that his adminstration will be providing Ford Australia with a boost of $40.4 million (AU$52.5 million) to ensure that the automaker's AU operations stay afloat. The design and production of the next Ford Falcon and Territory, to be built in Australia, take up much of the pot, accounting for $30.8 million of the investment. The remaining funds will go toward building a new light international vehicle platform, which will necessitate the construction and staffing of a new research and development center.

Before? As opposed to after he was President .... of Australia? So we move from equating R & D money to bailout money, but to come up with "bailout" money we move on to the actions of another government, another country. I swear, some folks never tire of carrying water.
