Bad manners-yes. Will it take any prizes-no.

I have had a person grab a Fal magazine out of another buyer's hand then say I'll take them (4 on the table). The guy that had the magazine taken out of his hand looked like he was going to go rabid. I looked at the going rabid guy and said "Don't go I would like to talk to you please." I sold the mags to the grabby guy and he left. I then pulled out ten more Fal magazines and said to Rabid guy "That guy is a horses *, you pay $2.00 less each for the magazines if you want them." If I remember correctly the guy bought eight magazines. The magazines were brand new and at that time they were not common and they flew off the tables. The only guy I discounted them to was that guy. Instead of going home mad he was able to brag about the good deal he got and how grabby guy came out second.

My take is that you had TWO chances to purchase the gun and passed on both. You could have bought at the original asking price of $150, then you could have bought at $125 (his counter offer to your offer of $100). Additionally, he asked you red-faced "If it was OK" to accept the $125 from the second buyer and you didn't express any issue with the deal

My take is all guns walking around a show by customers are fair game. Buyer offered $$ for the gun and low balled the offer. Seller might or might not have took . This so called 100 offer was never confirmed in the buyers post. Before he could get the cash out??? I didn't read anywhere that the seller accepted his offer. Seller asking him if it was ok? Get real. In my dealings if a seller is in the NEGOTIATING format with a possible buyer and the buyer is still undecided, I will butt in and say to the seller...IF you don't take the offer , I will be at the end of the aisle for a few minutes. In other words, I will offer MORE to the seller. But I will not make an offer in front of the negotiating buyer.
The proper term is Hawking. People trying to purchase a gun for under the going price. Dealers were bad at our local shows and the promoter finally put a sign at the door that NO dealers were allowed to buy guns at the entry door. I am not kidding lots of dealers at the entry door wanting to know what you wanted for a gun.

It shouldn't be called gunshow etiquitte as much as manners and moral character.
Butting into someone's conversation is plain rude and stupid. I don't care if it is a "deal" or the wheather. I was taught NOT to butt into conversations as it made you a *.

As far as the price of the 22 in question, SO WHAT if he did only offer $100? He felt it was a fair price in his perspective, and nobody was forcing the seller to take it? Any of you disenters walk into a car dealership and deal on a used/new car? How many are DUMB enough to pay sticker price? A free market is a double edged sword. If I have something to sell, I allways ask MORE than what I am willing to sell it for. This leaves room to haggle the price some. I have NEVER sold anything for LESS than I would accept however.

While it may seem unfair to some, IF person "X" came to me to sell me a single/several guns, I would offer what I was willing to PAY. Even if that price wasn't "market value", THAT would be my offer. "X" could take it, leave it, or haggle for more money. "Market value" can fluctuate quickly and violently one way or the other, depending on buyers and conditions. I don't buy arms to resell, SO I pay what they are worth to ME. This is also a good reason to NOT buy new. Let someone else take the loss, much like new cars.
