I blew up a Glock...flame away if you will--UPDATE

It was older Underwood ammo. Their website had a warning on it NOT to use in certain pistols. Glock was included. New website doesn't mention the warning. I wonder if the warning was on the boxes of ammo
Thanks for all the kind words fellas.
I will hopefully hear back from the ammo company early this week. The Glock is going out Monday morning.

I remember that warning. It was only Glock factory barrels if I remember correctly?
Glad you were not hurt. It seems your nickname would suggest you would know what brand is a better 10MM pistol.
Call me a wimp but I stay away from over pressure rounds and load below max in both 9MM and 45ACP.
The only thing I have over charged was for K98ks in 8MM and when those cases blew and my face was covered in residue it was all from the vents meant to prevent injury and damage.
I am unaware of pistols that have that built in energy diversion so I stay well clear.
I have had squibs but have either caught them or they got stuck too close to the chamber and the next round would not seat so I call those better lucky than good

Seems like Glock would be off the hook with an aftermarket barrel installed?
I have read of the "Don't shoot lead rounds" or at least clean the lead out of Glock rifled barrels is this could this be a factor?
Thanks for sharing and glad you were not seriously injured.
Thanks.
I am guessing Underwood Ammo is going to cover this, unless Glock finds something peculiar with the barrel itself. When I spoke to Underwood Ammo, for almost 30 minutes, the Tech guy assured me multiple times him and Glock would take care of it. When I gave him the name of the guy from Glock, whom I spoke to, he said, "I have dealt with him many times and we will get you taken care of."
I asked if I should call the barrel manufacturer, and neither Glock nor Underwood Ammo seemed to concerned that I did, but both said it never hurts have another brain on the issue. I will give them, EFK FireDragon, a call tomorrow morning.

This alone would make me highly nervous to shoot Underwood Ammo.
Sounds like the ammo is the cause to me.

Yeah, I didn't ask him to elaborate on that comment, but I suppose it could go either way. It could be issue related or it could be testing related.
Yeah it looks more like a pole barn with siding on it.
but it may have a concrete floor, that makes it a factory [:D]
i am not far from there, i picture a bunch of young guys sitting around a bench with dillon 1050's cranking out ammo for 7.25 an hour , because i have witnessed that at another operation on the other side of the river
Underwood has claims of power levels around the same as DoubleTap. I have shot a lot of DT but never tried Underwood. The price isn't that much different, so I have stuck with them. I kinda know the owner (via online only) Mike McNett. I sure do love their loadings, especially the 10mm. They were one of the first to load full NORMA spec 10mm loads.
Again, darn glad there were no injuries from this ka-boom.
In the end, all's well that ends well. Really good to hear they took care of you and made things right. Best wishes. [^][^][^][^]

Why,will you never shoot a glock??
Jon, I know you've commented that Underwood has been great to work with.
But keep in mind, it's all because they realize their ammo was at fault.
The fact that you're physically "undamaged" unlike your gun is a BIG PLUS to Underwood.
They could just as easily been the recipient of a litigation law suit to pay your medical bills and more.
$105 for a new frame and roughly $150 for a new barrel and box of ammo
is cheap in comparison to what they could have easily been liable for.
I'm almost POSITIVE if I were you, would not and know that me being me,
WILL NOT buy and shoot Underwood ammo.

What could have happened to the ammo? Most 9x19 is already loaded to max case capacity so it's not like they crammed in a bunch more powder. Maybe a much faster powder was accidentally substituted? I dunno.

Doc,
Justin from Underwood has done testing on the ammo I sent back. Pressure signs are all within specs and he even fired a mag full in a Delta Elite.
So far the conclusion seems to be that the bullet pushed back into the case, causing a slight spike in pressure. It wouldn't take much considering the rounds are running so hot to begin with.
I also learned that Underwood does not use this powder any longer and they have changed something about there brass since I bought these. Those 2 items could have helped cause a perfect storm so to speak.

What you guys are saying about the bullet getting pushed down into the case makes sense as well. That could definitely be a possibility as well.

Maybe I am missing something. I think the Glock 30SF is a .45.
Your shooting Underwood 10mm ammo. Those two don't match well.
What did I get wrong?
First I would like to say Glad you were not hurt.

Yeah, that wouldn't mix well!
I was shooting a 30SF with a 10mm conversion barrel made by EFK Fire Dragon.
