ya'll military types gonna have to comment on this 'cause I am not not not able to put forth a learned opinion.

The AR built by colt was the standard issue for our military beginning when? Were there competitive designs considered? Was colt give the army contract over who?

The AK is russian, da? but 50 billion terrorists and gooks have used it since when? Why?

Are there huge differences in the accuracy or operability?

help me here...Im just a big dumb country ox with a shotgun.

An AR15 is the most versatile firearm created.

The calibers available for it range from .17 to 50BMG magazine fed (ultramag50.com). By just clicking out 2 pins you can swap the upper and change it's mission.

The big flaw with a AR15...the gas system.

But that has been fixed with gas piston retro-fits many times over the years...here's the current MOD:

    GSR-35 Black Lightning

Sure an AK is cheap and more reliable. But it can't be used to fire some 40+ different calibers of bullets by just swapping uppers.

secondly, in today's global economy there is really no such thing as a "good guy weapon" or "bad guy weapon". Iran has a squadron of F-14 Tomcats, does that make the Tomcat a terrorist plane?

Venezuela has a bunch of American-made F-16's too, they're going to sell them to China or Cuba as revenge for the United States cutting off all arms-related trade with Venezuela.
