Last I remember cooking, had so much fat, it was swimming in it.

They must have changed it, to much leaner.

If you're gonna cook Spam, get the low salt. Cook it all. Eat it all for one meal.

I think it is so packed with cereal fillers that it burns/sticks easily.

I've got (ahem) "a few cans" of it, in my emergency stash.

Guess I'm going have to re-learn how to cook it. [:D]

Not swimming in fat, any longer. Still salty though.

    Mmmnnn good...........[:D]

SPAM-N-EGGS used to be a breakfast staple at my house. Dice 1/2 a can of SPAM, fry some of the grease out, dump in 1/2 dozen scrambled eggs, and when the eggs are cooked, it makes a decent breakfast for 4 or 5 people. A can of "whoppin" biscuits if you have them is a ++.

The only way to have it is out on a campfire with some eggs and biscuits (with honey and butter).

Very good meal~ Enjoy the Spam museum in Minn. They have regional flavors that are fantastic. State that uses most Spam is Hawaii. They use prime cuts, is an old joke that they use lips, tits, and other leftovers. Have it every day for breakfast.

Grew up with Spam. One of the meats we could afford back then. Loved it, love it. Thin sliced and fried, served with eggs. Also great as a sandwich. Sounds strange, but a catsup and Spam sandwich is GREAT.

I've been hungry but not that hungry. It brings the phrase "mystery meat" to a whole new level. :)

We must have 40 cans or more. Mostly the Smoked flavor.

I can make a scrabble for breakfast with bacon, sausage, ham...but the version my son has called Special Breakfast since he was 2 uses Spam.

I use my mandolin and set it for 1/2" slices, pat dry, drop in sizzling hot, seasoned cast iron pan, cover & remove from heat for a minute. Then flip & cover for 35 seconds, then lay the slices in a coffee filter, crack eggs & toss in pan. Cook/season as needed.
Plate eggs, add SPAM; Walah! At $2.50 a can nowadays, it's much cheaper than bacon, & might have less harmful amounts of cholesterol-connected stuff.

If you think SPAM is nasty old cast off "point" food; try Mary Kitchen's Corned beef hash with your eggs next time. THAT'S what dog food smells like.

505, if you have tried Mary Kitchen's Corned beef hash, you are a better man that I. A pal (I thought) made that for breakfast while we were camping in RMNP years ago. Even the critters wouldn't eat it that night.

+1 on the low salt Spam. Bought a can of the regular Spam a while back. Forgot how salty it was.

Anyone try the Teryaki Spam? I heard that was good. When I was a kid, there was only one Spam... the original. [:D]

The low sodium Spam is a lot better in my opinion. The original stuff is very salty.

Just finished up the Nine Servings of Chorizo SPAM/Duck Egg/Sticky Rice Musubi! Nice little packages of FLAVOR! Wrapped in Nori, I bet it is a pretty nutritious meal, but Don't really care.

We have on hand Teriyaki SPAM, Hickory Smoked SPAM, Tabasco SPAM, Chorizo SPAM, Portugese Sausage SPAM, Garlic SPAM, and Regular SPAM. Also have same size, same manufacturer Turkey and Beef loaves, but I can't call them "Spam".

    Favorite is the Original.

Like the low-salt or hickory flavor the best. Handy on camping trips. Shake out and slice off what's needed and the rest goes back into the cooler for later. Love a Spam, fried egg and cheese sandwich.

I buy the singles packs, because my wife doesn't like Spam. I buy both the regular and Lite versions. Like both really, but the lite versions is probably a tiny bit less bad for me.

In the full can, the Jalapeno Spam is terrific.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

The ONLY one that the hard-core preppers store is the Regular, Original SPAM. All the flavored ones have expiration dates that are fairly short.

Another thing to watch for: the new "easy-open" style ring pull tops can crack with the least stress or mishandling. Teensy crack can be hard to spot, unless some growth/reaction is going on, and then there will be a place where some blackish goo is building, right on the score line.
