Listening to Pet Sounds: "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Sloop John B.", "God Only Knows". How very lucky my generation was.

I had the opportunity to see Brian Wilson in Austin, Texas five or so years ago. He played Pet Sounds in its entirety.
I still get chills when I think of that night. He is one of the true greats.

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BANDS!
One of my favorite groups was the Rightous Brothers, I got to see them in the 60's right after You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' came out, and again just a couple of months before Bobby passed. They still put on a great show, and Lovin' Feelin' still gives me chills.

I heard that none of the Beach Boys knew how to surf.

Sure they did, how do you think Matty learned. Don
'The Mamas and the Papas' had great harmony too.
Harmony:
Crosby Stills and Nash
Bee Gees
America
Queen

Only Dennis Wilson surfed.
mowart: I agree with you about Mamas & Papas. Hasn't been a female singer like Cass Elliot before or since.
Lowrider: Don't Worry Baby is my all-time favorite BB song, as well. Surprisingly, c/w singer Lorrie Morgan has a great version of it.

CSN....Saw them before Davids rehab tour[:D]. Stephen Stilss' Tribute to his Yacht (Music was her name) Southern Cross, still gives me goose bumps.
I love that song.
But I just generally have to call the group "Crosby, Stills, Nash, and/or Young" since I can never remember how many of them did any particular song. [:p]

Don't forget Dallas Taylor.
falsetto harmony:
Bee Gees

...same, same.
I can't believe that no one has mentioned The Eagles yet! Talk about harmony! "Seven Bridges Road" always sends shivers down my spine, and "Lyin' Eyes", "Best of My Love", and, of course, "Hotel California" give me goosebumps every time I listen to them. And, let's not forget "Desperado".
I think I'll go put Eagles Greatest Hits, volumes 1 and 2, in the stereo right now.
Big Al (not knocking anyone else's selections, just putting my "likes" out there)
...there you go...I have not thought about Fogelberg for 5-6 years!
...EmmyLou either...[:0]
...and Seven Bridges is AweSome, another one I have not thought about in years...saw the Eagles on Hotel California tour, Long Run tour...and Hell Freezes Over tour...[;)]
Dick Dale lives out here in Wonder Valley.
Three-chord Dickie totally blows. He played live at a Bud Brown movie at the Santa Monica Civic when I was in high school. We hooted him off the stage.
They did-
Last year I heard them live for a cameo appearance, they sucked! they were so drunk they could not carry a tune if their life depended on it.
Love'em, But they need to quit doing public.

Many groups like that. The Stones should have quit in '70; Metallica in '86.
Dennis Wilson died, Carl Wilson died, Al Jardine was fired, and they're left with crazy Brian and Mike Love. Not exactly the Beach Boys of the sixties.

Yep, soon as you get sick of hearing yourself, everyone else ain't far behind.
...for a classic voice, kinda hard to beat James Taylor in my book.
Yup. Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose...
Made me think of someone else...Boz Skaggs.
...anybody like Boz Skaggs, the CD he put out 5-6 yeras ago?
in the rack, somewhere, I liked it.
