Listening to Pet Sounds: "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Sloop John B.", "God Only Knows". How very lucky my generation was.

One of the greatest albums of all time.

I had the opportunity to see Brian Wilson in Austin, Texas five or so years ago. He played Pet Sounds in its entirety.

I still get chills when I think of that night. He is one of the true greats.

Great music there, and I might add "Good Vibrations", and from a different record - "Kokomo".[:)]

Yeah, not bad for a bunch of beach bums who started out making music just to get laid. But then again that is why most people get into music. I recently listened to the digital remix of that album on a very nice sound system and heard layers in there I never knew existed before.

Pet Sounds is a great album. Some Beach Boy fans don't like because its "Weird." I think its by far their best.

The way those Idaho girls keep their boyfriends warm at night ain't bad either.

One of my favorite groups was the Rightous Brothers, I got to see them in the 60's right after You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' came out, and again just a couple of months before Bobby passed. They still put on a great show, and Lovin' Feelin' still gives me chills.

    Only Dennis Wilson surfed.

mowart: I agree with you about Mamas & Papas. Hasn't been a female singer like Cass Elliot before or since.

Lowrider: Don't Worry Baby is my all-time favorite BB song, as well. Surprisingly, c/w singer Lorrie Morgan has a great version of it.

Heard Crosby at The Troubadour in Hollywood in 1965 when he was with the Byrds. What a voice.

CSN....Saw them before Davids rehab tour[:D]. Stephen Stilss' Tribute to his Yacht (Music was her name) Southern Cross, still gives me goose bumps.

If you liked CS&N, you'd probably like Dispatch.

    I love that song.

But I just generally have to call the group "Crosby, Stills, Nash, and/or Young" since I can never remember how many of them did any particular song. [:p]

    Guys, guys, guys!

I can't believe that no one has mentioned The Eagles yet! Talk about harmony! "Seven Bridges Road" always sends shivers down my spine, and "Lyin' Eyes", "Best of My Love", and, of course, "Hotel California" give me goosebumps every time I listen to them. And, let's not forget "Desperado".

I think I'll go put Eagles Greatest Hits, volumes 1 and 2, in the stereo right now.

Big Al (not knocking anyone else's selections, just putting my "likes" out there)

Three-chord Dickie totally blows. He played live at a Bud Brown movie at the Santa Monica Civic when I was in high school. We hooted him off the stage.

    They did-
Last year I heard them live for a cameo appearance, they sucked! they were so drunk they could not carry a tune if their life depended on it.

Love'em, But they need to quit doing public.

Many groups like that. The Stones should have quit in '70; Metallica in '86.

Hell, there's only 2 of the original Beach Boys left.

Dennis Wilson died, Carl Wilson died, Al Jardine was fired, and they're left with crazy Brian and Mike Love. Not exactly the Beach Boys of the sixties.

Last I heard, Fogelberg was fighting cancer. That has been a couple of years ago though. He was a classic. Great phrasing. I know the topic is 'harmony', but heck, for a classic voice, kinda hard to beat James Taylor in my book.

...anybody like Boz Skaggs, the CD he put out 5-6 yeras ago?

I am more of an old blues fan...Albert Collins, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf. I enjoy the pain I guess. Lot of that sugar dripping candy assed harmony makes me want to puke. You want harmony listen to Mozart's arias.
