Iver Johnson, hammer, third model, .38 S&W. Belonged to an old man who rented a room at my grandmother's large house. Like new. He went to another state without paying his rent and wasn't heard from again. My grandmother found it in a closet in the room he rented. He had shown me the gun, never loaded, when I was just a kid. He said he worked for the Railway Express Agency and found the gun loose in the mail bin and the empty box it was shipped in and just slipped it into his pocket. My grandmother asked me if I wanted it, I said, "You dang betcha." I was eleven years old. Bill Goforth told me it was made in 1917. I still have it. I may use it sometime for a carry gun. I certainly wouldn't feel unarmed with it.
Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.
First centerfire revolver was a Llama Martial I bought at a Gibson's Discount like the Cap'n. First semi-auto centerfire was a satin nickel Colt Combat Commander in .38 Super. Bought them both the same night along with a Colt Huntsman in 6". Gibson's was closing out their handguns and they were 25% off the retail price.
First 'hand gun' was a Colt single action .22 cal. in box ( like new ) with both cyl.s that Pops bought me for $75.00 at a flea market when I was bout 12 or so ,,,,, Like a dumazz : traded it off a few years later .....
First 'centerfire ' pistol was a clunky elcheapo .25 auto ? dont remember what make it was ???
Thanks !!!
The more people I meet : The more I like my Dog
I Grew Old Too Fast (And Smart Too damn Slow !!!) !!! :?
There I was, at the Bowling Green Massacre, with my first ever centerfire pistola in hand: a Ruger Redhawk in 44mag. I didn't feel out gunned that day, but I can tell you, once the boolits started flying, I was glad I had an extra speed loader with me.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Nothing but a 45ACP of course!!!
Forgot to ID the pistol... EAA Witness full size steel in blue.
Same as mine. Got the .22 conversion with it. Pistol is wonderful in .45, the .22 conversion is junk.
Ringed hammer - Spanish civall Warr (God Damned Stupid Spellchecker nonsense) bringback...
Had almost zero finish on it and while mechanically perfect had been neglected...
I had the gun stealth flat black refinished all over...
1st gun I ever had refinished - used it as a carry piece at gun shows for a number of years...
Big gun - full sized - very hot cartridge
Bought it cheap - refinished as payment due (no cost for me) still have it...
It's not pretty but it always performed - functioned - cycled
A bit big and cumbersome for an every day ccw
Mike
S&W 29 .44 MAG
Same for me
Who knew?
My 28-2 is 45 colt. Don
You're a daggone Iconoclast, Don.
I still have it.

The firearm was a new S&W 586, 6 inch, wood and pachymer grips.
Wish I had never sold it
