I've never been asked to show my receipt at Walmart. At Sam's Club, yes.

Employee getting paid minimum wage to do the most thankless job in the store. I just show the receipt. If I have a problem with this policy I can complain to the manager or just go elsewhere.

You are being treated like everyone else. Why do you think you should be treated differently when you are in their business.

Do you also complain when asked to show ID when paying with a credit card?

The checks are made because there are a lot of thieves, and as with the ID check for a credit card, checking for a receipt at the door reduces theft.

They are doing it for you, snowflake. If you are shopping at Walmart for the pricing, theft reduction helps keep that pricing low.

    All the best,

    Don

i find it irritating especially when they watch me chech out with a clerk 20' away...but..employed rather than not. and i am fortunate not to have to do a job like that to survive..a little courtesy is not hard to drag up

My mom worked at the door as a "greeter" at a Walmart. She could tell story after story about people trying to walk out of there without paying. The police were called to her Walmart EVERY day. If showing your receipt bothers you dont go there in the first place. Also losers hear that Mr. Walmart is rich. They seem to think that because "he" is rich its OK to steal from "him".

It always amazes me to see the petty crap some people choose to wad their panties over.

I hate that establishments of all kinds paint lines in the parking lot and expect me to park my vehicle between them. It is quite obviously an affront to my rights as a Patriotic American.

Funny situation a short time ago. (last fall) I went to Walmart where I do almost daily shopping as they are only eight miles from where I live, and went in and bought a Black & Decker trimmer and leaf blower combo for a hundred dollars. Stopped at the closest checkout and paid for it, left the B&L in the shopping cart, started out the door. Remembered my wife had told me to bring two grocery items. Got the items, went to the closest checkout counter, told the lady (she had checked my purchaes many times before) I had paid for the B&D. She said, "I'm sure you did but I have to see your receipt'

So I showed it. Looking back now, even trying to be honest may look dishonest. But I have to admit that would have been a way to get a free trimmer. That was the first time in years I had to show my receipt.

My Walmart does not do the stupid stop/pretend to check receipt any more. They did it for some time though. Once as I was going out this scruffy looking guy looked in my cart, I had several 8 packs of soft drinks they didn't bag. He said "did you pay for those drinks?" I can't say exactly what I told him but it was something like "Yes sir, I certainly did." Shortly after that they stopped doing that.[}:)]

we never had that at our walmarts. We have it at BJ'S wholesale club and costcos, but never at walmart. I find good deals there and love walmart. [^]

Our Sam's Club has an employee "check" receipts at the exit door...they essentially spot check a couple items then send you on the way after they mark the receipt. It is all about perception.

Don't mind showing a receipt for what I buy.
I have a good friend who is the loss prevention manager at our local Walmart. He can tell you a lot of stories about how people steal stuff there. He stops at least 10 thefts every day, and knows he is only catching maybe 1/3. They have some high quality cameras, and employees walking around acting like regular shoppers. Still, hundreds of $$ walk out every day.

Hotel California [:D] you can check out...

They mark the receipt so you can't come back in and say you bought the second item and use the receipt from the earlier purchase.

Notice that at membership warehouse the rules are different than other stores.

If you wish to accuse me of stealing, call the cops. Otherwise let me spend my money and be on my way. Walmart has a whole wall of watchers, they know who is stealing.

I don't mind being receipt checked but really hate it when a checkout person fails to de=activate an alarm sensor on an item!

For some reason when the exit alarm goes off, I feel like an East Berliner going over the wall.[B)]

Was out the door already last week. The loss prevention person stopped me to check my receipt. Seemed a dremmel bit purchased was not deactivated properly by cashier.

Slightly annoying but not as much as a free ride in a police car.

The places with checkers are usually at stores near the usual shoplifting cultures. Definitely the MO in NJ and FL stores I use
FYI There's a shoplifting epidemic - by the usual scumbags and addicts.

Every CostCo I have shopped at (8+) in CA and Az do a exit receipt check. Frys Electronics also does a exit receipt check. One time I forget to get some gift certificates I bought and they caught it at the door. So it is not all loss prevention but also quality control.

I'm an honest man and I know it. The Walmart employee doesn't know it. He doesn't know me any better than I know him. If I'm in Walmart I have time to kill. I can give the "Walmart police" a minute at the door. Maybe two.

Walking out of Walmart the other day with a cart full of MY Legally Owned items. The early-20-ish guy near the door tells me he has to check MY legally owned possessions. I say " No thanks", and keep going out the door. He runs up, RUNS...., grabs the cart, and states again "I have to check your cart". I again say "No Thanks", and keep walking out the door.

Unfortunately, he had positioned himself so that he was in-line with the door jam, and got peeled off the cart as I went through the door.

I looked back at him and wished him a Happy New Year. He wasn't too thrilled. With the attitude he presented, I half expected him to follow me out the door. Luckily for everyone involved, he did not do so.

I have NO inclination to allow someone to paw through my personal possessions. I do NOT know them. I do NOT trust them.

If it's a REQUIREMENT that they paw through my possessions, then they need to post that policy at the entrance. IN BIG LETTERS. That way everyone will know what the requirements are (just like at SAMS club).

Now that you know it is policy, I would assume you will either discontinue shopping there, or submit to the inspection, correct?

I RARELY shop at Walmart.....its really because its the saddest place you can ever spend your money. The people that work there are plain out miserable....like zombies without the energy to chase you. Plus, knowing that they make special "lower quality" items just for Walmart stores....like Leupold scopes and such makes me question ALL of the items they have there.

If I need a lot of random bulk purchase things....detergent, TP, paper towels and such....I will run in there and get JUST that stuff and then drive down the road to Publix where they are smiling faces, a few hugs and the "Publix brand" items are actually better than the name brand things.
