The last time I checked, people could pray, curse, mumble, talk bad about their neighbor, and even lie if they wanted to. Also, outside of church, they could even recite the Pledge of Alligiance anytime they wanted. How many of you have recited the Pledge in church? Anybody? You can do it the whole sermon if you want! [;)]

The principle is an ignorant * though.[}:)][:(!]

I've done most of the things you mention. I don't recall ever talking bad about my neighbors, but I've talked bad to my neighbors if that counts.

We recite the pledge of allegiance at my church at times. On some occasions we have the JROTC post Colors.

What does any of that have to do with not letting the little crumb crunchers recite the pledge for fear of offending a little rag head?

James, Are you stoopid? Anyone can recite anything anywhere they want to in this country (Except "Fire" in a crowded theater). That's what I'm saying. Every single kid in the Portland school system can all recite it every minute of the day if they want. Why do people make such a BFD out of everything.
The princlie is an * for restricting it for the stated
reason, I wrote that in the initial post.

I will say that between this thread and the ACLU thread, it looks like GB has a bunch of losers and uninformed people posting on here. Is the pledge reciting like worshipping a god? You don't make any face if neighbors don't see you do it?

Why DO you recite the pledge? Because it's something you feel, or you just want to impress people? If it's because of how you feel, you can say it anytime, anywhere. Got a clue now?

So what's new? Liberal whacko's like this have been in charge of our public schools for a couple of decades. No wonder our kids aren't actually LEARNING anything.

    blah...

I always kind of admired you, I don't know why; I pictured you as an older fella and a wise one too. You usually were spot on in your responses to others in my eyes.. but as of here lately that admiration has kind of faded, I could never admire someone who disrespects my God. Even if you don't believe in God that is no reason to disrespect him.

The same goes for a handful of members here, they know who they are.

sorry bout hijackin the thread I just had to say that,

    Carry on.

    Ky,
I write the way I see it. There's no such thing as hijacking a thread. It's like a conversation. People will take up on the one they are interested in and bypass the boring one or the one they're not concerned with.

Concerning your god, he is YOUR personal god, not mine. I know no one is going to change their beliefs tonight so I won't bother witnessing to you. Suffice to say, if he were real, my words would have little effect on him (or you). Only when the child told the king that he had no clothes on was the illusion dispelled.

    I enjoy your post also.

I guess I must be stoopid then. I interpreted "The e-mail said that the children would not be reciting the pledge because of its reference to God." as meaning the children would not be reciting the pledge because of its reference to God.

That's not quite reciting it every minute of the day.

Guess I still don't have a clue. I must be more stoopid than we thought. [}:)] [:(!]

Time to play Cowboys and Muslims [:p].

    Cowboys vs Muslims:

Three strangers at the Great Falls airport are awaiting their flights.

One is a Native American on his way to Helena for a statewide Indian Pow-Wow.

Another a ranch hand on his way to Billings Montana for a stock show.

The third passenger is a fundamentalist Arab student, newly arrived, and on his way to study engineering at Montana Tech.

To pass the time they strike up a conversation on recent events, and the discussion drifts to their diverse cultures.

Soon the westerners learn that the Arab is a devout radical Muslim, and believes his people are justified in their 'holy' war.

The conversation falls into an uneasy lull. The cowpoke leans back in his chair, crosses his boots on a magazine table and tips his big sweat-stained hat forward over his face.

The wind outside blows and blows and the old windsock * but no plane comes.

Finally, the Native American clears his throat and softly he speaks:" Once, my people were many, now we are few."

The radical Muslim raises an eyebrow and leans forward, "Once my people were few," he sneers, "and now we are many. Why do you suppose that is?"

The Cowboy shifts the toothpick to one side of his mouth and from the darkness beneath his Stetson Cowboy Hat says, "That's 'cause we ain't played Cowboys and Muslims yet boy."
