Model 1 Sales + UPS + $400 = NO PACKAGE

Man I'm so heart broke. I ordered a new AR upper minus the bolt carrier from Model 1 Sales for my AR. Cost me $350 plus tax and shipping came out to $400. And thats alot of money for me, I'm flat broke. I saved hard to get that. Well I ordered it Monday morning when Model 1 first opened. So here it was Friday morning, and being an interstate shipment, I figured it would have been at my doorstep by now. So I call model one sales and they give me a UPS tracking number. I track the package online, and it says that it was left at my back door yesterday at 3:26 pm. Now I regularly checked all day that back door to see if my package had arrived. I was not home at approximately that time, but I was home at 4:00pm. And needless to say I have no package....

Rather upset I call UPS to file a claim. And the lady on the phone very promptly advised me that I could not file the claim because I was not the shipping party. I continued to argue with her that the UPS driver left a $400 firearm part in a box at an appartment complex, and now its gone. I never recieved it. And she's telling me its the shippers fault... I wanted to know why they didn't just stick a tag on my door for me to come pick it up since I wasn't home.

So model 1 sales already closed and I can't get in touch with them until monday. I'm out my very hard earned and saved $400, and have nothing to show for it but a sorry excuse. I have no idea what to do or what direction to go :( Any advise would be appreciated, cause at this point I'm just going to have to accept the fact that I got screwed and move on. It always seems like when I really want something, and I work hard to get it, I'm always rewarded with someone elses incompotence or just plain dissappointment.

damn man. thats just wrong. i can somehow relate to you. i ordered a gun from pa, using my c&r license. i told shipper to have it delivered on a friday, since thats the only day i am home.(truck driver) my wife got home from work on a tuesday and found a large box with a firearm in it sitting on my porch! ups did not even want a sig.kids all over my neighborhood. it could have turned out the same way for me. sorry for the loss, but hopefully you will get it resolved.

    Lee,

Contact them that you didn't receive it. They will contact UPS who will send the drive out to investigate. If he can't locate the package or find a neighbor he left it with, you will get a replacement.

But, for the next year, UPS won't leave anything at your door. They will leave a little yellow slip telling you where to go to sign for it.

Don't worry. Been there, done that.

all you can do is wait for monday and talk to the seller to file your claim. maybe they won't give it to him cuz as far as they know it was delivered.

you can't believe everything you hear coming from UPS, I had a package sent, they said at least 4 times it wasn't at the counter to pick up (it was indeed) they said they called and left a message when it got there, they didn't. resent it and got it, but again they said they called and left a msg that it was there... they didn't even have my phone number to do that.

I don't use UPS unless absolutely necessary, I'd recommend you do the same. use US Postal instead.

I'm surprised the shipper didnt ship it "signature required" for delivery.

Actually a good point... EVERY delivery I get to my shop requires a signautre but none of the deliveries to my home seem to ever need one... wonder if commercial/residential means anything?

Just happened to get a Model one box yesterday with 5 kits yesterday at the shop, and signed for it...

Have you checked with neighbors? Maybe one of them saw it and took it in for you?

That sucks, sorry for your problem. I think that calling model 1, I'll bet that will get the ball rolling. I have seen them many times set up at Texas gun shows, they are nice folks, I'm sure this is not the first time that something like this has happened. Maybe a neighbor got it, or maybe the office has it up front? Good luck, keep us posted.

UPS and other shippers have left important expensive packages on my door step as well. Not very smart.

This was back in 2002 I think, not long after 9-11 ... UPS claimed they "delivered" 2-8lb containers of gunpowder to my home ... when I called the shipper wanting to know where it was they said someone would have had to sign for it ... they started a tracer and UPS sent out the driver and his supervisor to "investigate".

Driver said something to the effect that "I've never been here" supervisor said "Well, its the address that the package was shipped to".

I never heard anything else but did receive replacement powder ... and this time it was left on my porch in the middle of the day ... it had a sticker for "adult signiture required" but no one signed for it the second time.
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

ups pulled the same crap with me one time
    even faked the wrong signiture
seller called them, and UPS magically "found" the shipment
    it will work out dude

a couple different times I have come home and found a package on my front porch with a complete firearm in it,big sticker on the package requireing adult signiture,we almost all the time have the same driver so I ask him if he knew what he was dropping off and just leaving,,he told me he did not but he could not let it slow him down on his route,so now he puts all my packages in my garage for me,at least they are not out on the open porch

UPS once left 2 Yugo SKS's leaning against my garage door.

I was just a bit surprised when I came home that day.

I get great service from brown, they either leave it on the porch, or if it looks breakable toss it over the back gate on to the concrete patio.

I will not do business with them if I can possibly avoid it.

I've found that UPS is not the only delivery service that pulls this kind of crap. I saved up long and hard for a new computer, and I ended spending $1,800 on it. Emails said it would be delivered between Wed. and Fri at such and such time. Wednesday and Thursday roll by and no computer, so I start looking back through my emails in case I missed something. Found a link, which lead to another link and so on, and finally wound up at DHL's tracking page. Under my name and adress it says "BD Tue." Through some more searching, BD stands for Back Door. Well my mom's house (where it was shipped to) has a small store room in the back yard, and sure enough, there is a big ol' cardboard box containing an 1800 dollar computer that has been sitting outside for TWO DAYS!!! I don't think DHL has ever received an angry customer call like the one I gave them. No note on door, no email, nothing. You would think these guys would have more common sense.

I've had a lot of run-ins with UPS. They will always deny claims with the excuse always relating back to it beeing "your" fault. Repaired a van last week that their driver backer into & wouldn't let it go till I had the money from them. They were paying for a rental for the owners. That got some action from them. I just don't trust UPS management.

Last week UPS left a Uberti 1849 pocket pistol addressed to me next door on my mother's porch with out even knocking. This was not the regular guy. The regular does pretty good.

I had a similar experience with UPS (which is why I will not do business with them again). Ordered a bunch of drill bits, never arrived, called company I ordered them from, sent out the driver to investigate.

Well the driver showed up with some package I never ordered. The address was the same number but different street. Driver took the package he tried to deliver to me, disappeared for fifteen minutes, and returned with my package of drills.

So far FedEx has not screwed up like UPS regularly did.

you know, this is a coincidence and a half

i have an FFL friend in AZ that wanted a rifle i had for sale, so i told him id swap it for a nice complete tact. upper from model 1 sales in 5.56. he placed an order with them and SPECIFICALLY requested SIGNATURE AND RELEASE TO ADULT ONLY.....well, that was last friday. i had not received anything or heard anything all week long. i took a couple of clients fishing yesterday, and came home early hoping the package would be there, no package. i called model 1 sales, and asked them when it was shipped, and for a tracking number, which they gave me. so, i go online and look at the tracking number, and it showed it had been delivered, and was left at the FRONT DOOR, which is visible from the street (duh!)....i went out and looked all over...NO PACKAGE....asked my bro next door .....he hadnt seen it.....SOOO.....i call my friend this morning (i left him a message yesterday) who calls UPS and we were told that he has to call model 1 sales monday morning, and model 1 sales has to file a claim......we have nothing but problems with UPS around here. ive had packages ripped open, items stolen, packages completely disappear,etc......really ticks me off....

anyway my friend specifically requested signature required, etc when he placed the order. when we called UPS , they said that model 1 sales didnt request signature req. service.......youd think that when your dealing with that much money (my setup was almost 600 bucks) they would automatically request signature service.

anyway, i was looking for info on model 1 sales online and happened to run across this post, and i HAD to chime in under the circumstances.

    UPS Same for me.

Last Dec Ordered a bunch of ammo. Keep checking UPS Site says its been delived to Porch. Well my porch is small so I should see it. File claim that night(shipper was good with e-mails).

Next day Fed Ex delivered some Ammo that did arrive. But was supposed to have another delivery from UPS same day. Found nothing. Filed another claim.

After a couple of days and not hearing anything very angry me goes to UPS Office. They contact driver, he tells them that he left it near my gate(About 1/8 Mile from my Porch). So I go home and check Under the snow I see a little bit of plastic bag sticking up. Its in a Ditch under some Blackberries. All My ammo. It had snowed since first delivery. I was working some long hours soe was leaving and coming home in the dark.

Even after calling it in to say all was found. It has taken till now for them to take off the signature required on all Packages.

Will say my regular driver was on Vaction and it was a temp. My regular driver is the one who got the signature required pulled.

Still do not like dealing with them.

Regular old mail works for me, Postmaster for my area is a really good guy. Don't know how many Packages I've picked up after hours. From work to the post office there is no way for me to make it on time. If I have a Package he waits a little longer before leaving Knowing I will pick it up.

WELL, THIS IS HOW THE DAY WENT

this morning, i get up and i called model 1 sales at 7:00am my time (9 there time in the morning) and spoke to one of the ladies there. i explained everything to them, and had them verify that it was supposed to be signature required ( which they did) . they said that they were very sorry, that they were going to call UPS and have them check into it, and i would hear back from UPS within 1 to 2 hours.

    2 hours pass

i get back on the phone and call model 1 sales. i got the same * the phone, and she told me that she had spoken to UPS and UPS stated that the setup was delivered to the WRONG ADDRESS and that it would be picked up and id have it in my hands before 12:00PM pacific time. WOOHOO!

    12:00PM-NO PACKAGE
    12:30PM-NO PACKAGE
    1:00PM-NO PACKAGE

I get back on the phone, and i call UPS personally. i explained everythin g to them, gave them the tracking number and my inf,etc....."were sorry, we cant find anything, whats the shippers phone number?".. gave them the shippers telephone number and they found the info. they tell me "it was mis-delivered to XXXXXX 299 highway" i told them, how is that being mis-delivered, as that is MY address!...they said they would look into it, and call me back

about 5 minutes after i hung up, the driver shows up..he looks around the front, and then knocks on my screen all pissed off. he said" im supposed to come by here and pick up a package that was mis-delivered" i told him there wasnt a package mis-delivered and that he supposedly delivered 2 packages to me on friday ( i didnt even know the model 1 package was supposed to be delivered on friday!). he said he did, and he left them next to the front door. i told him i didnt get them, and he went ballistic, accused me of LIEING and stealing the packages ( stealing my own stuff,i like that...im 40, own my own home outright, own 3 harleys, a super nice completely restored 1967 mustang show car with a fat built up 400HP 289,a nice bass boat (and 4 other boats on top of that) and more guns and toys than anyone could ever hope for,i have nothing financed and live free and clear, and this guys accusing me of taking my own package....i love it, i bet i make more in 2-3 months than this guy makes in a YEAR.) and that he was going to call the FBI. i told him go for it . i wasnt home when he delivered them, a signature was required ( i am a firearms dealer, and UPS already knows that regardless they arent supposed to leave packages as i dont want firearms left in front were someone could steal them, and the supervisor i spoke to said the driver knows better as its right there on file).

( so not only was it marked signature required when it was ordered specifically, the driver was supposed to collect a signature regardless!..he didnt)

the driver leaves all p*ssed off cussing me, so i get on the phone and call his supervisor directly. i was on the phone with his supervisor for a good 45 minutes. i explained the situation to him, and what the driver had done and all he said was "well the guy is having a stressful day" ( i would imagine because i think that if a package is signature required and the driver leaves it without a signature, and something happens the drivers liable for it). i had the number for the hib and the supervisor because ive a had times in the past where they have lost, stolen, opened up,crushed, destroyed, etc my packages and ive filed like 6-7 formal complaints in the last 2 1/2 years) ( which i was told today by the UPS supervisor had been put on the back burner in the past, and they nev er got to them) in the past. i told the supervisor today i wanted a complete and total investigation done, and that i wanted a telephone number to whomever handles there investigations in this area as i wanted this problem solved, period. he said "ill get the number looked up and i will call you back directly with it"...thats the last i heard from him. i called him 3 more times today to try to get the info and each time he "was out" doing something else.

THEN, i by chance ran across a number online to call UPS corporate DIRECTLY ( 1-404-828-6000 ) in an attempt to lodge a formal complaint. i got the receptionist guy, and explained what was going on, and he told me "thats to bad sir, hold on and ill transfer you to someone who can handle this for you".....he transfered me, the phone rang 4 times, and someone picked the phone up and hung it up without saying boo. i tried 6 more times to call them, and after the first time no one answered the phone.

i tell you what guys, i wish there was some way to get a class action lawsuit going on them and sue there arses. we did some research online today about UPS and the way they do business, and from what ive read, there a bunch of thieves and liars. it wouldnt suprise me if the driver didnt take the stuff himself and say it was delivered.

OK......so after all of this, i call model 1 sales back. they tell me that there waiting for UPS to call them back before they will do anything. i asked the guy i spoke to (im presuming it was the owner) if it was possible to tell UPS that if the package turns up to send it back to them, and in the meantime, ship me out another package. the guy said "NO, we cant do anything until we hear from UPS. if the package was stolen, we will have to file a claim with UPS and then, once they pay for it, we will send another package out to you" i asked the guy, ok, then how long will that take?...he said" i dont know. UPS could find the package tonmorrow, or it could take 3 months to collect from them. regardless were not doing anything till we get things settled with UPS"

what a joke. i called and told my friend to call his CC company and explain all of this to them and cancel the transaction.

Wow, fishing guide, that is to much a coincidence. I called the lady today at model 1 sales and told her my situation. She called me back after filing a claim with UPS. She told me that UPS is going to do an investigation to see if they misdelivered the package, and she guaranteed me that I will have my upper within the week even if she has to ship out a new one. So we will see.

Now I'm not closing the story yet. I'm still in the same boat with you there Fishing Guide. We will see how this all works out, and I wish the best to you. I hope we both have a good ending to the situation. Good luck.

And I will never, ever, ever, ever use UPS ever again...

I guess I'm lucky, but I have never had a problem with UPS, and several of the drivers have become customers. I even have my current driver's cell phone number and if I have a delivery that requires a signature, we'll communicate. We have a great setup.

I've had horrible service with UPS. I won't use them. Fed EX has always done me right.

Also, UPS is so horrible even my company dropped them like a rock for shipping. The manager over North America for my company and I shoot the breeze often and he said they dropped them for breaking and losing way way more equipment then FedEX and DHL combined.

I'll tell you what. You fellas that have had these problems give Model 1 a call and tell them they need to switch over to FedEx. I just did a little checking and it turns out I cover the territory they are in and I just so happen to work for FedEx in sales [:D][:D] Sounds like a win/win for everybody.

Sorry to hear about your problems with UPS.

When my brother ran a shop several years ago, he had the same problems.

He filed a national complaint with their headquarters, and even went so far as to file with the Interstate Commerce Commission.

(now known as National Surface Transportation Board)

2-3 days later a UPS supervisor shows up at the shop. He basically begged my brother to never file a national complaint again.

Problem solved very fast after that day.[}:)]

Well friday came.... HAPPY 4th of JULY to everyone!!! And still nothing from model 1 sales... Thursday I called and the lady said she they were waiting to hear from UPS to see if they found the package yet, and once they hear back, if they didn't find the package they will send out another...

So still waiting. At least Model 1 sales so far seems to be trying to help. But then again they could just be being nice with no intention on following thru. Hopefully I will find out monday.

same here, still nothing, and no word from either ups or model 1. i dont know if he did it or not, but i told my friend to just do a chargeback and screw it. im tired of waiting on the BS. i can order the same setup for someone else and get it way before they can get this crock of BS figured out.

wanna hear something else fairly funny under the circumstances?....i ordered a DPMS lower parts kit and a riser scope mount from copes distributing for this same project.i told them that since there were all of these problems with ups i wanted the stuff sent via usps priority mail. it was shipped on june 30th, and i STILL havent seen it. the usps said it should have been delivered on the second.....go figure. it still shows thru USPS that its still in transit........ill tell you this much, i am about now completely pissed off over this whole situation. now, ive got to wait more. no parts to finish this lower, no top end for it,etc..sheesh!....

    well, some good news..

i explained to my local postmaster about the items being missing in action, but still showing in transit on usps website. he said he would check into it. this evening, on a sunday around 6:00pm i get a knock on my door and it was my postmaster.....he had been checking the tracking number all weekend waiting to see if the package made it to the local office, and when it showed it did, he took time out of his sunday evening, went to the post office, picked the package up and hand delivered it t my front door with a big "were sorry" and even offered to reimburse me for the postage...now how can you beat that?

now i at least have the lower built.
