    Rack Ops Thank You

As I said, I'm not here to defend your actions in their entirety.

In particular, I think your actions when confronted by police were nothing short of insanity.

I do, however, hold that not all property is replaceable. Some of us just aren't fortunate enough to be able to replace vehicles, expensive tools, etc......

In my state you are only required to have liabilty and that does not cover theft.

All the more reason to holster your sidearm.

I once answered a late night knock on my door with gun in hand.....to my surprise a deputy was on my doorstep, he was at the wrong residence.

The gun disappeared in a hurry.....I don't even think he saw it, which is the way I prefer it.

Rack Ops It was well after the fact the I helped him search the shed that he ask me to holster my side arm.His partner had to go back to the station to get a report sheet.

jeep god, email me and i'll send you local police station. you can call them and get the same standard answer. "no, we can not comment on an active investigation".

the desk officer doesnt even have to look in the log or active case files to figure out how to answer that one.

caller: what happend with those shots fired in this neighborhood last night?
officer: we cant comment on an active investigation.

caller: did a ufo crash last night?
officer: we cant comment on an active investigation.

caller: hi. im calling from another stae. just curious about something that may or may not have actually happened in your town last night. care to comment?
officer: we cant comment on an active investigation.

what im getting at is thats more than likely a canned answer given to every person that calls looking for info.

im calling outright shenanigans on this one.

there are two sets of circumstances where an armed civilian would likely be allowed to engage in an armed search. one, the sole responding officer is grossly outnumbered and reasonably certain the armed civilian isnt a bad guy(thats a toughy). two, the civilian is a close friend of the officer.

one isnt the case, as it is reported to be a 1:1 and if it was two, then toolbag wouldnt be so reluctant to call his best friend when he needed help.

so no. i say its bullschit that you were allowed to participate in a search while armed.
