So a girl I work with posted her phone number on face book for dumb reason. Now she is mad that guys keep calling and texting her. I told her she was stupid for putting any real info on there.

I finally setup a facebook account.

Now I question if I really want any facebook friends.

Call me crazy but I don't think I want any facebook friends.

Why would people want a huge social network. Seems like a lot of work to me.

I sure as heck don't want to be friends with anyone at work. I say what I want to say to them there. I sure don't want to communicate with them outside of work.

When I told me wife I finally got an account, she said "Don't you say anything!" She knows me and my opinions.

I guess while other people think "I want as many facebook friends as possible" , I think "Do I really want this person as an online friend."

Maybe I have issues. Maybe there is a psychological term for being facebook resistant.

It just seems like a lot of work to me.

Join this group and have all your friends join. Original goal was 1 mil, is already up to 1.2 mil.

I only have 30 that are Friends, but out of that 30, 3 have passed away the one older than me was only by a couple of months.

    Kind of makes you think.

Anybody here have a Facebook account?

Now before you start busting my balls for being some teeny-bopper, I did resist for the longest time. I kept getting requests from friends and family, so I finally broke.

Within two hours I made contact with over a dozen buddies from past units and school. Kind of cool.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone here was on?

Everybody but me is involved with Facebook. I get friend invitations all the time. Dawnie has a Facebook account. I tried to set one up, but it won't let me and I got frustrated and quit. Dawnie set me one up, but she had to use a newly made-up email address and password to get it going. When I tried to log on, I couldn't. Since then, I asked Dawnie to help me get on, but she has since disposed of the email address and password she used.

    Is Facebook worth the trouble?

I had a MySpace account for a while, until the powers that be there decided my password wasn't any good anymore, and I refused to make up a new one.

Not all bad part of a group that grew up in my old home town. Showed pictures from there several times.

    542077_3211322123029_1265533540_32425913_1674512532_n.jpg

This was a burger joint that was real close to where I lived matter of fact the White Building to the right and farther back was where I lived.

The guy who posted this photo said it was his Dads place and it was built there in the 80's. Had fun correcting that one I left town in 1974 and it was there then. Mater of a fact I moved to that place in about 67 or 68 and it was there then.

He has since corrected his dates. I know that place cause it was on the way to the Slot car track and Put-Put golf course. And I had to walk right by that place. So I ate there a lot.[:o)]

know you all hate it, but I've been lucky to connect with old friends by using it.

Last one was just today, I posted about a girl I remembered. but could not find her picture in the year book. Lost track of lots of folks my last two years in high school.

So I posted to see if anybody remembered her and was told this last week there was nobody by that name. Well she posted back today saying she was alive and well, know its her cause the gal I got back in contact with last week was a friend and still is of her. Think that gets me over the 20 mark for friends.[:o)]

Another Facebook coverup. In case you didn't already know, starting today, Facebook will automatically start plunging the Earth into the Sun. To change this option, go to Settings --> Planetary Settings --> Trajectory then UN-CLICK the box that says 'Apocalypse.' Facebook kept this one quiet. Copy and paste onto your status for all to see.

This morning I opened up my facebook account and noticed there was a posting from my son saying he liked Pres obama and that you should vote for him. I know for a fact that my son did not make that post. Facebook must have posted it using his account.
That goes to show you just how low social media will go to promote something or some one.

I finally broke down and got one a while back, just to keep up with my kids, and some distand friends. I agree with you. I don't want hundreds of "friends". I get a lot of requests from people just wanting to up their "friend" count, and I just ignore them.

I think folks that are so concerned about the number of "friends" they have, are trying to make up for some insecurity.

Kinda like upping your post count![:D]

You are a whole lot further than me in the world of social networking. I still don't even have a face book account.

    That's what I'm saying.

I'd rather talk to a bunch of strangers online than people I know.

Every friend I have on my Facebook acct. is also in my speed dial on my phone. I don't accept friend requests from people who realy aren't my friends. I figure a friend is someone you call call when you need something or they can call me when they need something. Some people just try to add friends to be nosey in their personal life.

I log into facebook once a week or so. I keep in touch with some old Navy friends.

I use linkedin to keep up with coworkers and keep the two pretty well segregated.

I think linkedin is much more valuable than facebook.

i signed up a few years ago, found out so did 78 relatives some i havent seen since i was a child, and was nice to see them doing well, in addition some childhood friends, and high school chums, again nice to see how their lives have turned out so far, although there are many that friended me and we never really had any correspondence at all, just accepted their friendship

i have about 4-5 on my friends with that where once enemies as a youngster, accepting their friendship was to me a very meaningful thing, part of learning not to hold a grudge, let things go and move on

i have 2 cousins in particular that as a child my aunt did not allow to see us, we where not good enough for them, the girls where spoiled rotten, its funny to see them now, the drama they post everyday is hilarious

I have tons of friends, but I only pay attention to a few of them. I have "hidden" a lot of them where I never see what they post....but if I want to check on what is going on with them I can just type their name in and see. Play around with it and you will get it set up like you like. Its not the number of friends that you have....its the privacy settings and such that will make or break it for you.

    For each friend I accept ,I refuse 15 !
If I don't know you in some way ,You are not accepted .
And if you tick me off ---You are gone !!
That is the only way to enjoy FB .

Maybe I should remain silent, post comments on everyone elses latest photo or what color their kid's poop was that day...the usual thing then occasionally post a FEMA conspiracy theory. Just once every two weeks. Start with Nixon's Operation Garden , 5 FEMA regions, location of nearest FEMA camps, government is now hiring FEMA camp guards and employees.

Just play it straight and post something dry serious but out there.

Wait. That's what I do here.

I was up close to 800.... thinned the herd. Lot of family, lot of friends. Racing, old bandmates and fans, etc I have probably 10 or so 'GB' friends. i blocked pretty much all of the 'spectators' and others that I just don't feel like dealing with. To be honest, there are probably a hundred or so that I keep close contact with. of course my Phone has 1500 people in it. (work contacts, etc)

the downside is there is a propensity for games from mouth breathers as well. I keep my privacy at Friends Only for that reason.

The upside is we've made a lot of friends through it.

I just set one up a few weeks ago just to get the trading post for my county and 2 more close by. There is also 2 gun trading post set up in this area. Better than CL. Got a great deal on a lawnmower last week.
As for freinds keep it to family menbers you want in and any close freinds, don't open it up to the whole world.

Not to hijack the thread, but here's my FB page. Most of my stuff is public and check out my videos of shooting automatic weapons. I'm not a number collector, so I don't really add people unless I know them personally.
