I thought is was a great speech. Better than any the Obummer read off the teleprompter.

Anti-Semitic? Where would that come from? They must have listened to a different speech than I did.

It was in tune with his message throughout the campaign, and strikes at the heart of the problem of an unresponsive government.

There is no convincing brainwashed party hacks! You cannot talk them into reason no matter what facts are presented. The only way to combat these people is to expose them as the irrational dupes that they are.

My wife is not very politically aware, and she is not a huge Trump fan. However when she listened to the speech she said it was motivating.

Some people are going to be unhappy and complain no matter what does or doesn't happen.

The "protestors" invoking violence are not even involved in the process, most of them are hooligans at best and cannon fodder preferably.

I am quite fine with someone who wants to debate the 'left" or "right" side of any issue with factual discussion and an open mind to compromise with the singular goal of MAKING AMERICA GREATER!
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

My information comes from watching "live speech or YouTube Live".

A more appropriate use of German History:
Everyday the TV media is more like Nazi Propaganda and has little resemblance to news or true commentary.

ABC / MSNBC and their counterparts are scared of losing their audience.

That's OK, they will lose whats left of "liberal right wing" if they all aren't gone and slowly erode their left wingers, because many can only swallow so much.

    100% agree, Alpine.

I even went and read the transcript, and there is nothing there that could even be construed as anti-Semitic.

Nothing more than the same crap we've heard for 18 months.

He is called a racist when there is nothing he has said that suggests he is.

He is called a threat to the LBGTXYQ123 community, when there is nothing he has said that suggests it to be the case.

Problem is, people listen to these idiots. I guess I can understand the women's march to an extent, but racially-centric or lifestyle-centric protestations seem to be a creation of the leftist media, race pimps and lifestyle choice pimps.

First of all the media would be applauding Trump if it were truly anti-Semitic. So that is the first clue that it wasn't. Secondly they are struggling to create this "Hitlarian" story line. Anytime a politician demonstrates any nationalistic priorities the libs immediately go to the Hitler bag of tricks. More tired old rhetoric just like their over use of racism.

    Probably nor.

    Foolish ?

    Yes.

It is a tainted term, unfortunately.

I suppose we should defer to your far greater knowledge of 'foolish'.

Mostly because getting you to clearly state your 'reasoning' for calling the speech foolish would be a futile effort.

    His speech was classic Donald.

He spoke of America and its CITIZENS.

I can not understand under any twist of the mind how anti-Semitic messages could be heard.

He did let the political class know he planned on peeing in their Cheerios if they keep doing nothing.

You may want to read Obama's first inaugural address before you jump to incorrect statements. The self reference narcissism was not a part of that speech.

I spent most of the day watching the inauguration (I watched the first Obama inauguration as well) and I did not detect a hint of antisemitism. I have no idea how anyone could get that.

I was surprised at how often I heard the name Jesus Christ by different speakers. Can't say I remember hearing Obama say Jesus Christ as often in 8 years as the speakers did in 10 minutes in fact I can not remember him saying the name Jesus Christ once in 8 years not that I was keeping a score card.

It will be a great day when he recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moves the US embassy there. In 3000 years of existence Jerusalem has only been the capital of one nation; Israel

Denying that truth is blatantly anti-Semitic

The interesting part of Obama's 1st inaugural address is both the lack of self reference, and it's mundane construction. There isn't a memorable line in it.

The stark difference in quality between that address and the flowing beauty of Dreams from My Father was the genesis of Jonathan Raban, Jack Cashill, and others to deconstruct the authorship of the various writings claimed by Obama.

The poor quality of Obama's 1st inaugural address matches earlier writings. His claims to being a better speechwriter than his speechwriters is laughable when you make a comparison.

Obama's claim to fame was an ability to read a teleprompter. That, and being able to make ordinary people want to jump from high buildings when he didn't have one, and was speaking off the cuff.

It wasn't anti Semitic. It was just retarded.

Why not just say "ok Russia and China, the world is yours."

But maybe I heard wrong. Maybe I should have listened to what was in his heart.

No, I think you heard what you wanted to: something to complain about.

As we have allowed both Russia and China to have a free rein for years, why would you worry about it now? Or can I assume that as China has built a blue water Navy and created whole new islands in the South China Sea, and Russia was expanding its real estate holdings in eastern Europe, you have been sending weekly NastyGrams to CJ?

    Nice burn, mark.

    But things are not ok.

As annoying as all the Obama rumor mongering was, it was just annoying.

We don't have to deal with rumors with trump. He says moronic and dangerous things, and when called out on it, we are told not to listen to what he said, but listen to his heart.

    This is insane.

Part of my posting again is simply calling out bs, and the entertainment value of people trying to say trump is presidential when he basically takes a dump on stage, and someone calls it truth.

It might surprise you to find that people are tired of leftist BS. Since you appear to lack the intellectual capacity to grasp what happened, let me spell it out for you:

The preening attitude of moral and intellectual superiority from the left toward those who disagree with them is part and parcel the reason why you and your statist buddies got Thumped. Your stunted emotional development leaves you much as a child who cannot understand why your mommy won't let you have ice cream instead of string beans with dinner.

That same unwarranted sense of superiority is why there are so many of you who cannot come to terms with your loss. The continued inability to comprehend and understand that simple reality is likely to lead to continued losses across the country.

In short, you better get used to having your political * kicked.

Please cite the specific passages that would cause a reasonable person to reach that conclusion. Not an opinion or interpretation, not a feeling had from listening - use his words. It's an easy cut & paste job to show the lines.

It's great to be on the winning side for a change, to not to told what horrible people we are for being gun owners, to not be endlessly and every day subject to verbal attack by our government.

You have to wonder - would these gunowners (if they are gunowners) prefer Mrs Clinton in the White House? Better still, do they want so much to be right about Trump that the result is our gun rights are further endangered? We should all be relieved as hell that Trump won, and we should hope he has continued success. Last time we checked this is a "gun forum" - perhaps these folks would be more at home on a pro-immigration, pro-LGBT or pro-abortion forum - if they happen to hold those issues in higher regard than gun rights?

A legitimate case can be made that a Trump pro-gun SCOTUS nominee may be hostile to theRoe decision, although the posters I've read are more comfortable with invective than responsible discussion. But to those who cite it as a concern, I can't disagree. My response is that I view my gun rights as more important to me, I hold them in higher regard, than Roe. So, sorry guys - you folks had your turn, now it's mine.

Regarding Trump's speech and how "moronic and dangerous" it was -

"But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential. This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.

We are one nation - and their pain is our pain. Their dreams are our dreams; and their success will be our success. We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.

And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same Almighty Creator."

    Yea, gee - what a horse's behind ......[;)]

Having an admiration for LBJ probably puts me in the minority here, but with a syntax tweak & TX accent this sentiment would be well at home in early days of the Great Society. I suspect it doesn't get much play because the sentiment is at odds with how the media wants to portray the speech.

I learned a long time ago that when someone who has had success in life, certainly more than me and 99% of the rest of us, when someone like that does something I don't understand it's not because they're stupid or moronic or foolish - it means I don't understand, or that there's information or motivation I'm not privy too. It's the epitome of hubris and limited thinking to suppose otherwise and the "Trump is an idiot" folks are doing exactly that.

Let's make it easy - here's a link to the text of the speech:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/01/20/donald-trumps-inaugural-address-full-text-as-prepared-for-delivery/?utm_term=.d42b973c02a4

Now, I'm not saying it was a great speech. Given the unfortunate state of public education in the US and our short attention span culture I suppose it's necessary to use lower form rather than classic rhetoric. But if anyone other than Trump gave this speech we'd be hearing a bunch of "hey, not bad" critiques.
