Rarely eat steak out unless it is at a local chain called Western Sizzler. Owner is married to a fellow firefighter who I have known for over 40 years .
Do not remember last time I had to send one back.At home it is knock off the hooves and horns drag it across the fire flip it drag it back across the fire and throw it on the plate if it does not moo when you stab it you cooked it too long
cry Havoc and let slip  the dogs of war.....

    Sorta on topic...

I patronize Outback whenever I can because they flew a 747 packed with steaks and pretty servers to Desert Storm for Thanksgiving in 1991. They'd get my business no matter what. But our local one does a fabulous job on food - and their pork chop is to die for.

I do this very unusual thing in every restaurant I visit: I'm not only polite and friendly to the wait staff but I warn them in advance that I'm a big tipper. Funny - I never fail to get great service and food.

Used to go to the local Outback for the pork chops. Never thought too much of their steaks.

Local ones started playing music so loud you have to almost yell to talk to someone sitting across the table. Haven't been back in years.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

I'm looking forward to the day I get to eat at Bright Star in Bessemer....I hear that they have the BEST steaks a person could wish for. They are aged beef....which is not as common as it used to be. Plus, they are FAMOUS for having wonderful service and being a "upper class" place.

Whenever I'm in Bessemer I'm usually picking up a car load of guns....so I can't stop and go eat there. One day....soon....I'm making the trip out there to just eat!!! None of this gun business!
On your way home from the Gulf! You and Capt Fun both stop at the "Wind Creek Casino" (Atmore)go inside to the Fire Grill! Better than Ruth Chris....No need to worry about dress, just go and eat the best beef this side of Omaha!...and I might say, fairly reasonable...

I worked in a Restaraunt and I can tell You that You dont want to know what They do to Your food when You send it back if They think Your just being picky.
I remember one time a Person complained about Their Meal and the Meat was dropped on the Floor in the Kitchen and then just put back on the Plate without even wipeing it off.
People that have the (I'm better that You) attitude can really get some nasty things done to Their Food if They P.O. the Servers.
So Everyone needs to remember this next Time You send something back.

I will have to keep that in mind. Larry might be coming home a day early, but we don't know right now if he needs to do that or not. If I'm coming home with the kids I'm sure I will not feel like stopping anywhere....the music they torture me with alone is enough to make you want to drive double whatever the speed limit is. It sounds like something Larry would like to check out if he decides to stay down there and come home with everyone.

The best steak I have ever eaten is at a small joint in Thayer, Kansas - Big Ed's Steakhouse. We deer hunt in that area for a week every December and have to visit it at least twice while there.

Large ribeye, medium well - yum!!! Their salad fixings are not too great, but the steak makes up for it.

I'm like FCD, spent the biggest part of my life with cows around, if I want good steak, I eat at home. We go out for lots of other things but, I eat my dead cow at home.
And, I've not found a restraint serves a decent elk stake.[;)]

I sent one back last week at a pub in Fredericksburg. It was almost raw...I wanted it to be medium rare. No worries...they redid it.

If it is a decent steakhouse I will absolutely send it back. I order med-rare, and I can eat a rare if it's not still cold inside, but anything cooked any longer is just a tough piece of meat, and I won't pay for it. I do as you did. I do not blame the wait person, and do not take it out on them. If I have one come back the second time still not even close to what I ordered I politely ask the wait person to send a manager to my table.[:(!]

I had a buddy who served on a battleship in the eighties. He told me about what went on in the officer's dining hall.

They have a dining room for officers that is separate from the crew's dining. My buddy did not work there, but he knew a guy who did. He said that if there was an officer who was rude or offensive to a crewman, his food got "special treatment." He said it was really nasty.

Now, if a sailor gets caught doing this it is probably a criminal offense, I bet he would wind up in a brig breaking rocks with a sledgehammer for a couple of years. In spite of the threat of such dire punishment, these sailors routinely "fixed up" the food for officers they disliked.
So you think it doesn't go on in your local steak house?

My cousin used to live on Ono, Over the years, I have stayed at most of the buildings from Ft Morgan to Pcola. This one we got last year due to the pool being out of service at White Caps where we usually stayed. Liked it so much we got it again.

You know Capt.Instead of owning a Condo, find one you like and rent every year....much cheaper than owning one unless you live close buy and make the beach every weekend...I did the numbers years ago,and there is no appreciation unless you get caught up in the frenzy before the crash in '06...(Due to the back to back hurricanes)
