I have a big deck now.

I have always wanted a big deck but until now it was just a dream. I worked on it all weekend and now it is really big. Even though my hands and arms are really sore, having a big deck makes it all worth it.
When i showed my wife, she was amazed that I was able to make it so big. She is happy now and is planning on ways to decorate it. All the people I show it to like my deck too. I would post pictures but some of you have some serious deck-envy problems. Don

Are you going to invite the neighbors over for a big deck party?

I hope it is big enough to share.
It started when I had to scrub my deck, then I started polishing it, I polished it continuously. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and polish it, I'd sneak out from work to polish it. It got to be a real obsession. Now I go to a therapist three times a week, I also go to group therapy to talk about obsessive deck polishing. Talking about it all the time just makes me want to polish my deck more.
I think you should have your therapist sit on your deck so she can render a professional opinion before judging you. She just might enjoy every inch of it as much as you do.
If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

There are a lot of seamen on that deck too.

Did you screw or nail your deck?
Some fall victim to a current trend and make the mistake of entirely clearing it's surrounding area. However, for many a completely bare area around a deck can tend to give it a not-quite-finished, less inviting appearance.
Shrubbery alleviates this issue but can also have drawbacks if allowed to grow uncontrolled. In addition to a more neat appearance, keeping all surrounding shrubbery well trimmed invites people to linger around your deck. You want people to feel free to wander around and enjoy the entire area without feeling as if you're having to direct them. It's of course the centerpiece, but you really don't want it to be all about just the deck.
An added benefit to this keeping your shrubbery under control is that it performs the visual trickery of making your deck look bigger.
