It started when I had to scrub my deck, then I started polishing it, I polished it continuously. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and polish it, I'd sneak out from work to polish it. It got to be a real obsession. Now I go to a therapist three times a week, I also go to group therapy to talk about obsessive deck polishing. Talking about it all the time just makes me want to polish my deck more.
I was told growing up, if you polished your deck too much, you would go blind........
You really ought to think about joining a deck support group. It can help you avoid the pitfalls of excessive polishing, washing and scrubbing. Heck I was rubbing my deck out one day and it started smoking, friction can be a dangerous thing. I got one of those synthetic polishing gloves and generated enough static electricity I had sparks flying everywhere. Heck we even have a girl in our group, she doesn't have a deck yet, but says she wants one.
i guess my deck is average, i don't look at other guys decks, the main important thing is the entry into the kitchen, i prefer a narrow door, and not those double wide sliding or french doors, those apparently get broken into allot easier than the narrow doors, next thing you know the whole neighborhood is getting in

Now you get helpful..... I would have saved $$$'s in optometrist fees and razors.....
one man should never work on another mans deck its just not right,
thats why I always rub oils on my own deck myself or have the ladies rub it on my deck for me.
Well, when my deck got too old, I replaced it with a synthetic deck, now it is much bigger, wider too. My wife loves my new synthetic deck, she invites her girlfriends over all the time to enjoy my synthetic deck. It never sags or bends and can handle all the pressure of her friends at once.[;)]

Wartiger, thats a helluva deck, my deck is getting kinda gray and moldy. I probably need to pay more attention to it.
Thank you, I am always pleased when someone compliments me on my synthetic deck. Perhaps you can replace your old, worn out deck with a synthetic deck as well. I must warn you though, it doesn't feel as natural as good ol' fashion wood. But, still very satisfying.[:D]
I've kept my deck in the shade so much that the wood changes shape, when exposed to heat, and starts becoming slippery to the touch.
Once the wife was out on it, and it caught fire in the dark of the night. Lucky for me the wood was fresh enough the sap started flowing out of the wood, and it extinguished itself.
After this experience I'm choosing to keep the shade around it. I can't imagine what wood of happened to my deck if it was exposed to the elements of nature. It could of been a dry deck by now, and I might not have a deck left to talk about.
Keeping penetrating chemicals in the cracks, crevices, and groves is key to having my deck safely used more often these days. Also have added liquid nails to my deck whenever high traffic flow is expected. It's quick and simple to apply with the cock gun.
Went out this morning in my long johns to get a quick box of firewood. It is serious cold out there 0 F., wind about 20 MPH. I'm pretty sure my deck is frozen.

It does keep the deck dry in the rain, and stops the sun from harming it.

Go ahead Rub it in. Brag about your deck.
I hope you use it until you go blind with cataracts from the son.
Better yet, invite a guy over with a bunch of show vette's and comaro's.
Have a car show on the deck.
Fornicate your deck with GM cars!
