Take a half dozen golf balls and throw them out in front of you about 10yrds,

keep shooting with your pistol until out of range then pull out your long gun.

I enjoy it, hope it works for you.[:D]

I do that all the time with 12 ga. hulls .
start with 22 pistol ,then 22 rifle ,and then 17 HMR !
    Cheap targets .

thanks for all your help. so far the only new one is the remote controlled car.

i sure hope i don't get bored with plinking as i get older.

maybe im just being pissy since fishing sucks right now and have had bad luck with the coyotes and turkey....

If you try it let me know what you think of it. My 8 year old and i have a blast doing it. Just remember unless you can get a cheap source for r/c cars or trucks tying a balloon on it it just as fun. ( note that when you get out to 300 yards or more with the r/c yourbb more then likly to put a round into it. take a extra with so the day isnt runned.)

remote control car or truck with ballons tied to them. ( cheaper shooting the balloons then the cars) but he if you can afford it shoot the cars. My son and i do this all the time. He runs the car and i shoot the moving balloons. Very good practice.

Good one! Now I need an RC car... :)

I second that! That's an awesome idea.

At an outdoor store in my area, they were selling a shooting gallery style target for $200. A motor drives a chain with targets. You shoot them, they fall back, and come up again as it goes around. Looked pretty fun but not $200 fun!

I like milk jugs filled with water. and clay pigeons.

My favorite is an axe with a clay pigeon on either side. Split the round and break both birds. My dad started me doing it with a .50 caliber Hawken when I was a kid. Don't use jacketed rounds though, they are hard on the axe.

Well, we used to use a styrofoam bodies RC aircraft to teach soldiers small arms engagement of aircraft- little suckers are a LOT harder to knock down than you would beleive!

Eggs- tape to a string, hang. Vary the range.

braided fishing line, couple of screw eyes, hang paper target (deer, moose, alien, zombie) on fishing line, pulling line moves target.

Pringles potato chips (not the whole can at once)

Marbles, taped to string. 100 meters.

For pellet guns- fired shotshells, rifle and pistol brass. Stand up on a 2x4. Hitting 2x4 costs points.

Any old/broken household small appliances..dvd players, vacuum cleaners, computers. Messy but fun.

Great way to shut down an area for shooting too.[:(!] It may be fun, but everyone else(those that actually make an attempt) gets to clean the mess up when the person that shoots all that junk leaves it when they're done.[:(!]

I'm more than happy to clean up after myself, but I get sick and damn tired of cleaning up after everyone else too. Unless they leave a bunch of brass laying around, then I'm happy to clean that up![;)]

Hire some mexicans to hold matches between their teeth, try to light the matches. be sure to take a couple boxes of matches and some extra holders.

I used to make wooden frames to hold paper targets. just a thin wooden frame to stapple carbord onto then staple targets to the cardboard. Its great for shooting groups because you can put up 4 or 6 10" bulls eyes at 600 yards or 20 3" bulls, at 300 or 400 yards or whatever.

I'd sharpen the ends and drive them into the ground with a sledge hammer about 6 or 8 inches so that the wind coundnt move em..

Set up 4 or five side by side and you have an hour or two worth of fun.

Ditto. Apple boxes (cut one side and staple) that have a large red logo oval, which are about as wide as a torso at 50 ft- are excellent for pistol.

I've used excess fruits and veggies after canning time. Have people at work bring their extra tommatos and the like, they make a nice spray with small calibers.
