My dog is a black Lab named Scout, The rest of the pack are Chloe a Golden retriver/Aus Shepard,Tulip a black Cocker spaniel, and Daisy a Jack Russel/Black Lab mix, somehow my wife found them all over time except my dog, and he is my buddy. I named him Scout because I was scout in the military for a time and it fit.

My male Aussie is "Slick" short for "Slick Willie". The people we got them from must have been Democrats.
My female "Lita", looks like Woodshed's, a blue merle.

Our Block head choc Lab is named Clyde because he acts like what we thought a Clyde should acts like. Wants to be in the center of everything, unless he is sleeping on the bed[:D]

The Siamese mix cat Lila because she acts like we thought a Lila (AKA Princess Lila) would look like.

My other Cat Stitch. Named after the Little Monster Stitch in Lelo and Stitch.

Got her as a little Kitten about 4 weeks old a Feral kitten. Was really sick. Took her to the vet and lots of care about 7 years later she is still with me.

But when she was sick I kept her in the Garage so she would not get the other cats sick. Had her in a large cage. Well when I opened the door to the garage she was Hanging to the roof of the cage just swinging back and forth. Just saw the Little monster do about the same thing so the name stuck.

We have 2 cats and 1 black lab. One cat named boots because her feet look like boots. The other cat is named No-No because as a kitten she was very naughty and into everything and we were always telling her no. The Lab is Mia just because it sounded good.

Wife adopted a cat for me and it came with the Name "Spidy" short for spider. We were certain to change his name but nothing came up. We sometimes call him Little Spider man. All black and fluffy. Fast and spastic like a spider.

Our golden was named 'Trucker' when we got him... never came. Called him 'Dumb-*'. Head * around and he came runnin... My springer, bred by my dad, but taken from the house by the 'ex', (not sure who ended up with him as she's not allowed to have a dog where she is), was registerd as 'Looker Mountain Smoke' Because his mother's name was 'Looker Mountain Bailey' and I'm a Tony Stewart Fan. 'dumb-*' and I both landed pretty good though [:D] now that's one happy hound...... [:D]

My wife likes to pick Native American names for our dogs. The last dog we took in I named, Buford Blue. He's a Black and Tan hound with one blue eye, and he looked like a Buford!

In recent years when a new pet has been brought home, i've carefully considered good names that had meaning.......
    .
    .
    .

    .
    .
    .
Then promptly been overruled by my wife.[:)]

Chica on the left Lillehammer on the right. My son named Chica, I named Lillehammer. Besides being a city in Norway, it means little hammer. She was born almost blind, she sees but not much. She used to run into a lot of stuff when she was a pup, now she has learned to compensate. Little hammer came from the sound she made when she ran into the furniture, thud, thud, thud. Being nearly blind has it's pluses, I can put her on a blood trail and she will stick with until the end, she doesn't get distracted easily. She just puts her nose to the ground and will stick with a scent for miles (or pretty much forever), those little short legs makes it easier for me to keep up.

Chica is chief mouse and rat catcher, she uses those ears of hers to find them. I call them mouse bubble gum, she chews on them for hours, my guess is she likes mouse juice.

Zach short for Zacharias, was due to be destroyed for viciousness. From the prophet Zacharias, about new beginnings. Not the first dog I've rescued and put to work. Only two animals on the planet he won't try to kill are people and female dogs. I throw him in a thicket and see what pops out. It isn't the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog. He has killed an 80 pound Doe, a 80 pounds German Sheppard and taken down more than a few full sized hunting dogs. He takes some special handling, took me forever to get him to listen to the word stop. He is who you send in when the pigs bunker down in a thicket and refuse to move. He's been doing it for many years now and is still in one piece, he seems good at it.

Taz was named because he zoomed around everywhere like a tazmanian devil. Tisi came later and she was named what we thought would be the female name for Taz.

I miss those guys every day.
