I would go to the state facility at Cherry ridge (think as far north as you can go and still be in NJ) and would volunteer to coach and instruct - and there was always a strong Mennonite female presence...
When aim surplus had Schmidt Rubin straight pull rifles in 7.5 Swiss (hand select numbers matching with bayonet) we would order cases of them and sold at least 100 to Mennonite women...
They made no effort to hide the fact that this was for self defense of the homesteads when the men were working - and that while the 7.5 Swiss makes a great deer gun the arms were for militia purposes (commonality of ammo and parts and training)
