Why does GB refuse to allow us to block bidders before they bid

HooPhartedHooPharted Member Posts: 34 ✭✭

i know the answer is because its bad for business , so your only recourse is to what ,kill the auction and eat the final value fees if someone you do not want to deal with bids? or block after they bid and hope they don't win?

why can't we pre emptive block like Alaska or Hawaii , or someone with a atrocious FB rating

This is a question for Auction Support but I am sure someone with more experience can help you if there is a way to accomplish what you want to do. If you get stuck with a NPB the fees will be refunded to you. As long as folks follow your rules spelled out in the auction description why block them? An Alaska or Hawaii buyer can ship to a Seattle forwarding FFL and you are safe as long as they pay.

hassle , this is my fault because i listed flat rate $40 for two Gewehr 88 rifles , Hawaii wasnt even on my radar , i hate shipping gougers so i always try to get it as close as i can , sometimes i eat $5 bucks here and there but i sleep well

well i had a Hawaii bidder and did not realize it , i listed the two rifles for $150 for the pair starting bid explaining the poor condition with plenty of pics , had he won at $150 dollars i would have been screwed , he won , but won at $670 some , im looking at $120 shipping from WV to Hawaii for $40 bucks and the insurance due to the length and manner of travel

we should not have to wait until they bid to block bidders from bidding that we do not want to deal with, by then its too late , we should not have to deal with problem buyers with atrocious FB because we have to wait until they bid to block , by then its to late , we should not have to spend all our spare time researching every bidders location and FB to preempt issues we do not want to deal with

ebay has had these tools for 15 years

again 100% my fault for the error not taking in consideration location when setting shipping , but the guy doesnt live in Hawaii and not fully know that shipping is exponentially greater than what we in the continental states are accustomed to , he knew very well he was taking advantage ,and could have shown some decency and contacted me prior to bidding , i will ship for the $40 , he is now blocked , but the damage could have been avoided had i had some simple tools at my disposal , they have a box to check or uncheck for international , why not for alaska and hawaii

I think GB ought to block sellers like you who won't ship to Alaska or Hawaii.

Buyers in AK and HI shop for free shipping or "flat" shipping rates. Of course they know that shipping rates are much higher to those two states...that's why they do it.

All you have to do now is to contact GB customer service and tell them you plan.

Keep in mind that there are a couple of guys ahead of you with suggestions for improving the auctions:

Misleading buyers with surprise Credit Card Fees — GunBroker.com Member Forums

Auction no payers — GunBroker.com Member Forums

When GBHQ gets back to you, let us know what they had to say about your idea.
