Which is a good thing!
Correct. GBHQ implemented the change about a week ago. Whether or not is becomes permanent is up to HQ.
Seems like it might be kinda tough for those on the outside who may be thinkin' of joinin' to see what a fun lovin' groovy bunch we are if they have to sign in. I spent about a year reading posts before finally joining.
It might slow down "they who won't be named" from trolling the site.
That's true, but we usually do a pretty good job of weeding them out if they do infiltrate. Heck sometimes they're even mildly amusing!
I guess that just elevates our status in the world's eyes. It feels good to be special sometimes.

NeoBlackdog , I look forward to reading your posts but didn't know you had such a sense of humor. 😀
Brother, you have no idea!

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the Gunbroker Forums.
Please take the time to read the Posting Guidelines before you criticize either the forums or Auctions.
For a new member to draw parallels to the infamous Facebook because of logging in is not very bright. Hundreds if not thousands of blogs and forums require a login of members before they can read or even view pictures so it's not unusual. It is the content which separates us from those of the crowd which subscribe to the socialist tomes of Facebook. We here at the Gunbroker Forums take great umbrage to your comparison so please cease and desist any such comparisons.
Best.
This ain't gonna end well...
I'm not positive, but I think the move also prevents data spiders from Google, Yahoo, etc. from crawling the site and indexing the content. It does insulate conversations here a little from prying eyes.
Well Mike it was nice of you to stop by, have a good trip.
It didn't. Gun Broker policy is not open to debate, at least not in Gun Broker's house. Further more, criticizing a moderator for defending GB policy, which is one of the moderators many obligations, is out of bounds. Worse yet is critiquing moderator performance. That's my job 😎
As I had previously stated, there has been no word from GBHQ as to whether this change will be made permanent.
