Winchester Mdl. 62A Metal Butt Plate. Moderator Help Maybe?
I have a Winchester model 62A that I have had now quite a while, I would rate it as 99%. About eight years ago I asked the question here on this form, did Winchester ever make a mdl. 62a with a metal butt plate. A person on here using the name rec0546 answered my question by saying that he had ask the same question and he gave me a link to where his question had been answered by Bert H. Excellent explanation by Bert H. He expanded how in 1942 the war started and that plastic was a war time controlled product for the military getting first call on it. He went on to explain how Winchester had a bunch of excess metal butt plates for there model ???? So they used them in the beginning of 1942 so they could finish up the model 62a that were needing butt plates. For the life of me I can’t remember what model butt plates they used. I found my old question in my discussions, but when I go to try and bring up that link to Bert’s answer, it says page can’t be found. Can a moderator find that page? Or better yet does someone know what model butt plate they used? The ID link was ID=495897

I tried it and the same thing happens. I click on it, it says you are leaving the sight, I click on leaving, then it says page can’t be found.
You seem to be looking at the link that Kimi provided to one of Bert's threads- which indeed goes nowhere.
Eight years after the fact, it is hard to say where it is, and if it still exists whether it remains viewable. This what I can locate regarding the Model 62 and posted by Bert...

Montanajoe , Thank you that’s it, just what I was looking for. I knew it was one of them models. Now I’ll be able to sleep tonight.
Joe, you amaze me. When it comes to sniffing out lost (or misplaced) posts and threads, you are an absolute bloodhound.
You are very welcome. Glad I could help.
LOL Mark. I was able to determine through you post/link who the OP was on the thread Bert replied on. Then looked in that members profile under discussions until I found the original thread. ( there was only 3 topics by this OP member).
