Got a car yesterday.....they will deliver it sometime this coming week.

I swear, car shopping is a test.....if you can get through it you should be taught a special handshake that gets you to the front of the line anywhere you go for a day.
This is it....we went wtih another Highlander. Its a 2023 with only 17K miles on it. Its a Limited with dark grey exterior/light grey interior. It is a Limited and they are putting a tow assembly on it...which is why I didn't bring it home. They are going to deliver it whenver its ready...probably Wednesday.
It ended up being $43K....which put me financing just under $30K because after the payoff on the other one I've got around $14K in the end. I swear...it just makes me sick to think I almost had that other one paid off and here we are starting from square one again.
I'll be happy to be in MY OWN car again. These past few weeks I've been grateful to have my mother in law's car....but its just not the same as having "your thing" you almost live in to drive around.

I trust that you have had a long talk with your agent on the insurance . Making sure everything is in writing this time .

around here anyway, USAA would not cover atv's or utv's so I stayed with state farm, after adding everything up, house,cars, and utv, I only pay about $100-150 more a year, I figure it is worth the extra to have an agent I trust and one who will fight for me, and as Neo said if necessry I can go in and yell across the desk at him if need be...........
USAA has been great with everything until this car ordeal....and I was under the impression that "full coverage" was the top tier for insurance, which it is not. I also didn't have anything from them showing the stereo was covered in writing, which I know better, but got lazy and hinged everything on a phone call. I swear, every time I think I rank at least "average" intellegence something comes along that proves I dip down below that from time to time.
When the tree fell on Liam's house they were fantastic. I backed into a pole a while back and they fixed the bumper on my car with no problem....also that crazy crack in the windshield was handled without fanfair.
The value of a car is something I'm sure all the various agencies will give depressing evaluations on.....so, this has not been something I think I should drop USAA over. We ended up getting a fuzz over $27,000 for the 2020, with my deductible, the payoff on the old car, and finding the 2023 that we did....I'm in the numbers that I feel comfortable paying for a car that I do like. I was SOOO MAD when it looked like I was going to have to get into a much lesser car to stay in my target range for a car.
I absolutely despise dealing with lying salespeople. The last truck, two cars, & new Harley Davidson motorcycle, all have been purchased on the internet. When they arrived at the dealership, I just went & picked them up.
Tell me about it.....we drove 1.5 hours away to look at two that were at one car dealership. Turns out neither of them had a tow package, which was listed in the extras (a $600 add on with aftermarket parts....$1800 for the factory tow package.) The one of the two I liked best had warning lights lit up when I started it. The idiot sales guy actually smiled at me and said "The BEAUTIFUL thing is that it is under warranty and we will have Toyota fix it for free." We left so fast.
Kasey, I bought a 2020 Highlander Platinum in December. Got the dealer to knock off $600 which would be about half of an OEM tow package. Had that done this past week. Came to $1300. Aftermarket ones hang below the existing bumper, which reduces your clearance and departure angle significantly - like four inches or so. The OEM package replaces the bumper trim and places the hitch receiver higher.
I was going to go the factory route...but I have a trip coming up that I need my trailer for. After dealing with all of the nonsense we've been through this past few weeks I'm just ready to have some normalcy to my days.
I didn't want to have to drive Larry's Tundra on my upcoming trip....I can barely get that thing in parking spots, I can only imagine what nightmare I'd be with a trailer in that thing.
I hardly ever need my trailer and its the only thing I ever tow. I'm pretty certain this will work for what I need. If I didn't have the trip coming up I probably would have negotiated more on the tow package, but this fixed things enough for me to move forward.

I put a U-Haul hitch on my previous Highlander. The receiver was 12" from the ground, and I could just barely get my boat backed up a slight incline into the storage unit and still be able to get the trailer jack down. The extra four inches I have now ought to fix that. (I might even have to flip the ball over to reduce the height a bit.)
Went dark, huh? Better stick on reflective tapes all over that.
U-Haul/Trailer hitchs are a good idea to disable the car that would rear end you and run. Can't go far with a busted up radiator or tranny/oil lines busted.
LF, glad you finally got that mess ironed out and have some wheels once more.
