I've found there are VERY different kinds of driving depending on where you are
I get to drive all over the place…..its pretty fun most of the time to plan a little road trip.
One thing I've found is that nothing is the same anywhere you are, even though the laws are all the same as far as driving goes.
If you are in Nashville…..good luck, those people aren't "driving" they are looking around, talking on the phone, pointing at stuff, they might as well be in a bus being driven by someone else with a tour guide because their mind is not on the road at all.
Houston is a two hour drive from end to end with everyone going 90mph through the entire city….no joke. Its amazing. I suggest if you go there get a hotel within walking distance to the TexMex place so you can walk back to your room that evening….for lots of reasons…..trust me.
Whats up with Florida yall? Its like they said…..lets put a long straight highway without any indication of whatever interesting things might be going on, right down the middle so you pass everything without realizing you missed something you'd like to see. If you do turn, chances are you've made it to another of the same stretch of road….but this one has tolls. Why can't they get the whole left lane is for passing thing down???? Is that something they do just to annoy everyone?
Georgia is trying to win the most lanes in one spot award…..I am thankful they are working on things, but when they get up to 8 lanes in each direction you start to wonder if someone isn't just seeing how many lanes they can build before someone stops them.
Virginia….they have decided to drive everyone's GPS systems bonkers. You're car is telling you to turn left…..but the giant orange barrels say otherwise. Recalculating. It seems like there is either nobody on the road…..or everyone is on the road, all at one time in Virginia.
Louisiana is one place I've not figured out. The scenery is amazing….the food is amazing…..HOW on earth do I always find the exit that only has a scary gas station and a drive through daquiri/boudin ball shack???

Georgia….you better step up, this monster is in Katy Texas.
An interstate with 20 lanes each way in Katy? I don't believe it.
I drove through Katy 500 times on I-10 and it is about 8 lanes.
Huh, Allen found a new way to disagree without getting hammered~
Every road in Atlanta is named Peachtree something or other.
North Carolina is home to the lane change maneuver known as The Carolina Fade. If you change lanes in less than 8 seconds, you're doing it wrong. And don't you dare use a turn signal.

Driven in places overseas and lucky to be alive.
In the whole world there are no worse drivers than the Jersey drivers down around Paramus, New Jersey at quitting time on Route 17. —————-Ray
I have also driven all over Europe even on the Autobahn. None of those places were as bad as many of the US states I have driven in. I agree with all of characterizations that LF made.
Nashville is not fun and it has outgrown it's structure. Puerto Rico is a disaster I would not like to do again.
Nothing like Detroit around quitting time. Five times as many cars as the roads were built for you fight for a place.
Ray, I left Paramus at what I thought was before rush hour heading west on 80 and it was like NASCAR. Only 4 lanes and the right lane was moving at 70 while the left was 85+ (in a 55.) If you dared to leave a car length, somebody filled it.
all can add when I was younger and love to drive and we went some where every weekend.
my driving never changed I had to be the lead car no matter how fast or how many I passed or what lane I used to pass including the berm to get there . not bragging just a phase of my youth I managed to live thru
it was like a real time game for me no fear no concerns just go I had to be in front a lot of interstate races came up along the way speed was not considered . 130 -140 mph was not unheard of
and yes I passed a few state troopers over the years and trust me they had no sense of humor
but as I have gotten old I do wear my seat belt follow most speed limits
I am just on the brink of being the old guy in the left lane with my turn signal on ( blinking left of course ) what a boring life it has become
