...SPECKLED TROUT! Hmmm., speckled trout. LOVE to fish in the Gulf.
...Lots of cool salt water fishing along gulf coast.
Used to be good from LA., TX. border on south. Now, you have to go to just past Galvaston for the fishing to get good.
...For some reason, the "brown water" is way out from shore now in the "corners" area of TX., and LA., have to get a boat to get to any blue water.
...Great to wade fish for spanish mackeral, redfish, and trout running the troughs. Any body else salt water fish too?

...The ranch lake I fish mostly now,25-30 acre,no pressure, Floridas (4in.) stocked over 20 yrs. ago, healthy lake...has some hybris perch/brim that are up to almost 3lbs. now.
...Average size for them now is pound, pound and a half, talking about fight, geez, if perch/brim grew as big as bass, I think there would be PERCH tournements!...great to eat, mmm.

I think the bluegill and small mouth are the same family and fight about the same on a weight basis. The 'gills eat better.

You do know they taste better when not (in season) don't you, otherwise it's kinda messy [:D]
garlic thrown on the grill. Speckled trout and catfish fried to
a golden brown and doused with lemon juice. Of course all this served with an ice cold beer. O K I'm hungry now
got to go.
Catfish, also fried.
