The move signals a shift for Boehner, who once said that he was "unalterably opposed" to legalizing marijuana.

You can preach all you want about it being a gateway drug or whatever but I know that is BS pushed by big Pharma.
I will never condemn a man for coming to the correct conclusion.

With all the evidence pointing to it's medicinal uses he is on to a good thing.

It dulls your senses it will never be allowed on the job or the miltary. Medical uses can cross over with non-high varieties of the plant.
Recreational high potency varieties can cause delusional acts of life threating actions when driving etc...
Boehner is just wanting to get a piece of the pie on selling drugs to the public and is a NWO stooge for the Illuminati.
Users will be the first to lose gun rights and if you own firearms with pot use then your just making a case for firearms confiscation to spill over to nonusers rights.

Pot that is high in THC carries a greater risk of psychiatric problems, including psychosis, addiction and memory impairment. One study, for example, published in the British Journal of Psychiatry evaluated cannabis use in 280 people and compared them to a control group of 174 non-cannabis users. The study found that people who experienced their first psychotic episode were more likely to have used a higher THC potency form of the drug.
the Government has no more business outlawing personal use of Marijuana anymore than they do pine cones or any other natural item up to and including opium.
Funny how we want regulations on things we personally don't agree with.
Laws against the sale, transport, supplied to minors, Etc. Fine!
But personal use in the home is not an issue our Governments should be involved in.
Fact is (and as supporters of individual rights you would think a Gun forum would be more supportive)

Unfortunately, like all acts of recreational drugs, it spills out on the streets and causes an out cry to ban it and will just make police forces to become bad babysitters to control this element of lawlessness.
In the home use is just a dodge it just like these idiots that use guns without responsibility. Medical pot use is a granted privilege not a right.

Do the research, you will learn quite a bit.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

No doubt from their vaunted 'Confirm the Obvious' division.
Virtually every study that has been done has shown a marked decrease in opiod overdoses and deaths where medical marijuana has been legalized. Even recreational legalization is showing the same trend, though the data set is more limited.
You modern day Molly Hatchets not only ignore the basic premise of individual liberty, but also ignore the cost, crime, and deaths associated with the fact that pot is illegal.

It appears there are some folks here with a 1930's "REEFER MADNESS" attitude.
Do the research, you will learn quite a bit.
Nope, the concentration of new hybrid of pot is deadly on the roads,in the military and at work or owning firearms. It cannot be denied. Pot smokers are going to be the first to lose their right to own firearms.

In some cases, reported side effects of THC include elation, anxiety, tachycardia, short-term memory recall issues, sedation, relaxation, pain-relief and many more," said A.J. Fabrizio, a marijuana chemistry expert at Terra Tech Corp, a California agricultural company focused on local farming and medical cannabis.
Other effects, according to the NIH, include:
Feelings of panic and fear (paranoia)
Hallucinations
Trouble concentrating
Decreased ability to perform tasks that require coordination
Decreased interest in completing tasks
When coming down from the high, users may feel depressed or extremely tired. While marijuana use produces a mellow experience (users are sometimes referred to as "stoners") for some, it can heighten agitation, anxiety, insomnia and irritability, according to the NIH.

As an employer in a state where pot is legal, I treat people who smoke pot in the same manner I treat those who drink. If you show up drunk or high, you go home. You make a habit of it, you don't come back.
The concentration of THC today is akin to drinking shots rather than drinking beer. It is up to the individual to manage their intake. There will be many who do not mange it responsibly, and they, like their counterparts who drink irresponsibly, will be a problem. The overwhelming majority, however, will and do use it responsibly, and they are not and will not become a problem.
Fear of pot is as irrational today as it was in the 30s. In the 30s, however, there was not the documented benefits of it, nor was there the incredible expense involved with making it illegal.
You're harshing my mellow, dude. Why don't you just chill and let ii be?

That's you, serf, nobody else, every two months telling us how everything is going to go to Hades TOMORROW because the banana crop failed in Honduras and jungle warfare will spread up through Mexico and how the Post Office is going to take on the Marine Corps.

Sounds exactly like booze to me.
If anything is a gateway drug it's alcohol. I'd be willing to bet that 99.999 percent of all drug users used alcohol first.

Marijuana overactivates parts of the brain that contain the highest number of these receptors. This causes the "high" that people feel. Other effects include:
altered senses (for example, seeing brighter colors)
altered sense of time
changes in mood
impaired body movement
difficulty with thinking and problem-solving
impaired memory
hallucinations (when taken in high doses)
delusions (when taken in high doses)
psychosis (when taken in high doses
The amount of THC in marijuana has been increasing steadily over the past few decades.7 For a person who's new to marijuana use, this may mean exposure to higher THC levels with a greater chance of a harmful reaction. Higher THC levels may explain the rise in emergency room visits involving marijuana use.
The popularity of edibles also increases the chance of harmful reactions. Edibles take longer to digest and produce a high. Therefore, people may consume more to feel the effects faster, leading to dangerous results.
Higher THC levels may also mean a greater risk for addiction if people are regularly exposing themselves to high doses.[
You wouldn't happen to be related to Harry Anslinger would ya?
On occasion, I am a social drinker but never to excess or if I am driving. I have used medicinal MJ to kill nausea following chemo therapy...never got high , just got a case to the munchies...don't understand need to get high.
More government tit feeders.
Seeds, dirt, water, and sunshine. Grow your own - under cut the government aproved weed. Starve the politicraps of their crack AKA tax money.
No worse than alcohol.
Google what that known poison sprends on bribing AKA "contributing" to politicraps.
Wonder why the alcohol industry hasen't been sued like the tobacco companies? It causes as much or more death and destruction than weed any day of the week.
PS-- CDL or CWP or just a firearm owner - when you sign for legal weed?? Kiss those good bye
How many see most of the "medical Mj" business is being awarded to politicrap insiders? The total legal states too. Then who over sees the biz?

One blood test or urine test will weed you out but if you volunteer for pseudo-medical marijuana use then sure you have violated the Federal law on gun ownership and will be outed and stripped of those rights.
New hybrids of this plant are too strong in THC and most supporters here are deaf and blind on this point.
What happens when a blind man talks to a deaf man?

I think the mega-potent strains may soon represent the norm, if not already?the market selects for potency. But with customers clamoring for the strong stuff, there's also a question of whether manufacturers are labeling accurately. A Denver Post investigation last year found wide discrepancies between labeling and THC content?in many cases, products advertised a much higher percentage of THC than an edible product actually contained.

Stronger weed? Smoke less for same result. There - Easy.

No I am not but you seem to underestimate the average person is not going to smoke less to achieve a high. Plus the effects of hybrids of THC can then overwhelm the user and cause harm to society at large.
You do not build a resistance to THC to achieve the same high thus it can cause unknow effects.
Hopefully, you pot heads could drive an autonomous electric auto soon!

?I see people walk in all the time saying, ?Give me the strongest thing you have,?? says Tim Cullen, co-owner of Evergreen Apothecary, which runs two retail marijuana stores in Colorado. ?It?s bizarre ? Can you imagine being in a liquor store and having someone say, ?Just give me your strongest stuff?? But for now, that?s what a lot of people seem to want.?
And marijuana growers have clearly been working to meet the demand. Robert MacCoun, a behavioral scientist at U.C. Berkeley who has studied drug policy here and abroad, calls it an ?arms race,? in which growers strive to create the highest-octane varieties, and then bestow awards on themselves at the annual Cannabis Cup competition.

https://www.medicaldaily.com/what-skunk-cannabis-highly-potent-marijuana-could-damage-white-matter-brain-363276
?Skunk-like? cannabis refers to high potency marijuana that contains a larger amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) compared to around a decade ago. In fact, ?skunk-like? marijuana products high in THC are thought to be the most common form of cannabis in the United Kingdom.
?We found that frequent use of high potency cannabis significantly affects the structure of white matter fibers in the brain, whether you have psychosis or not,? said Dr. Paola Dazzan, reader in neurobiology of psychosis from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King's College London, in a statement. ?This reflects a sliding scale where the more cannabis you smoke and the higher the potency, the worse the damage will be. There is an urgent need to educate health professionals, the public and policymakers about the risks involved with cannabis use.?
serf you do not have a clue.[:o)]

This dank bud boasts an insanely high average THC level between 20-23% and offers hard-hitting effects that make the user act like they actually have brain damage. These potent effects kick in after one or two hits of this bud, leaving you with insanely droopy red eyes and a super heavy couch-lock that leaves you immovable, introspective, and sedated. This effect can last for hours and can leave you nonresponsive even when someone is directly talking to you, and users are often found in a blissful state of undisturbed sleep. Due to these heavy indica effects, Brain?s Damage is a perfect strain for treating patients suffering from insomnia, night terrors, chronic pain, and migraines. Brain?s Damage buds have medium-sized insanely dense dark olive green nugs with dark purple undertones and a spattering of thin twisty dark amber hairs. These nugs are dusted with almost translucent trichomes and are absolutely dripping with sweet syrupy resin. This bud has an intoxicating aroma of freshly picked tropical fruit and a taste of sweet earthy fruit with a hint of sharp pine...
And some folks are seriously invested in 1930's Prohibition rhetoric.
