I'm an NRA member & feel that overall the the good the NRA has done such as overcoming the anti-gun folks to get "shall issue" in many states, "castle doctrine" in many states, etc as well as the hundreds of gun control bills that they've helped defeat overcome any of the things they've done that have hurt us. I feel that if the NRA did not exist, we'd be much worse off than we currently are. I personally blame the left wing media & anti-gun folks as well as those in our country that are not willing to invest the time it takes to get educated about the myths, lies, and propaganda that the anti's put out on a daily basis. My own dad fell for the "nobody needs an assault weapon" ploy without even understanding what was being banned by that terrible Clinton legislation. The NRA helped defeat the efforts to renew that ban by the way.
That said, I do respect the rights of those who wish to disagree. I'll just agree to disagree as we do still live in a free country thanks to those of us who still have our guns.
If anyone is interested, that board member (Joaquin Jackson) has actually explained what happened to him at the interview - follow the following two links to find out:
Sounds a lot like old Jim Zumbo trying to "revise and extend" his remarks. I call bullsnit. He said what he said and it blew up in his face, period.
Trying to change what was a pretty clear statement seems like a normal NRA tactic. TELL the people what you did, but don't actually LOOK at what you did.

"invest the time it takes to get educated about the myths, lies, and propaganda "
Does that include the myths lies and propaganda the NRA puts out. They are a hypocritical bunch at best, traitors at worst. Apparently investing time doesn't apply to you.
"My own dad fell for the "nobody needs an assault weapon" ploy "
He shares common ground with the NRA then.
jpwolf - wow - I said everyone is welcome to their own opinion & you decided to attack? Like I said, you're welcome to your own opinion, no need to get personal. We are on the same team you know, unless you've decided to join the Brady bunch & no longer believe in the 2nd Amendment.
You say that the NRA fell for the "nobody needs an assault weapon" policy? Please point me to the evidence that the NRA has done anything to condone a ban on assault weapons. All I've seen is them fighting against the assault weapon ban, and they did a big part to prevent efforts to extend it when it came up for expiration. Wayne even called CNN's bluff & told them that they faked their "assault weapon" story which forced CNN to do a revised story with the truth of the semi automatic weapons that were banned by the law (rather than full auto assault rifles as were shown in first story).
PS - good news - I was able to educate my Dad as to what the so-called "assault weapons" were as defined in the ban, and he wrote to his Senators to tell them to NOT renew the Clinton gun ban when the Liberals were pushing for that renewal. So our friends who have fallen for the media propaganda in the past are not all beyond hope. We just need to educate them.

I don't really judge him one way or the other, I only present the material & allow each of you to judge for yourself. Remember though that he is not "the nra" - he's just one of many board members. In his interview he states that although he personally feels that hunters should try to take down an animal with 1 shot to be as humane as possible, he fully supports the second amendment and would never try to restrict the magazine size of any weapon. He was on a tangent about hunting, not talking about all guns in general. If the 2nd amendment only pertained to hunters it would instead say "the right of the hunters to keep & bear arms shall not be infringed"
Luckily it was not restricted to hunters. It was restricted only to "the people" so I guess my dog doesn't get to own a gun, although Peta does want animals to be granted human rights. I wonder how PETA (People for Eating Tasty Animals) would feel about gun toting dogs after they are granted 2nd amendment rights if they get their wish?
look at how we all talk about the government..........its supposed to be us......us.........talking about the way we do only strengthens their position......and you all whom have beeb here a while know just how i feel about the nra........... nice to see most of you still here fighting,i may a bit less strong than i once was,but would still be proud to be along side of you.........
