Neck Sizing Lube

I've read that if you're neck sizing only, that there is no need to lube the outside of the case. Is that true?

Yes, if you are using a necksizing die it does not size the outside of the case but comes very close to support it. It is sort of like a poorly made sizing die, although that is oversimplifying it. Neck sizers are precision made dies and will help you shoot better groups as long as all the rounds are going through the same rifle. They work best with bolt actions and may not work at all with semi's and pumps. Hope this helps.

Yeah...I just wasn't sure if it was still tight enough to necessitate lubing the outside. Do you need to lube the neck at all?

With a carbide sizer bulb, I do not.
