I agree. I was just stating what we used to do while I was growing up. My father was a fine man, but that was the one area where he let me down[:0][:0] Man thats dissrespectful.[:(] times were different back then we used to run deer with dogs and without tags. thats how he was brought up don't blame him for that. We now have the education they did not. never Dis Dad..[;)]

Buckey - My statement was not made in anyway to disrespect my father. We had a long talk about these things around my 25th birthday. That was about the time that I realized how much he had shaped my life. He was my stepdad and came into my family when I was 11. I resented him a long time. However, instilling the hunting bug in me was one of the greatest gifts that he gave me. I got over my resentment (read, "I grew up").
Anyway, I don't hold anything against him for how he raised me and he went to his grave knowing that I loved and respected him more than any man living or dead.

Let me go see if I can dig up the rules from last season. That will give you a better idea of how we did things

Here ya go, These were the rules for last season. I got them from a guy on another site that runs a contest there as well.

All deer will be scored using this website link by gross Pope and Young scoring total. http://www.luckybuck.org/index8824.html

    1. It doesn't matter how many states you hunt...one buck and one doe or one doe and a second doe* (for people who don't shoot a buck) will count for your score, no matter where taken. The first one entered will be counted...even if you kill the world record the following week.

    2. NO PIC OR VID, NO SCORE. All pics should be tasteful (don't worry too much about tongues hanging out, but no pics of a skinned deer hanging over a pool of blood) You must post a pic or post a video link of your harvest to count as scored!

    3. All does, button bucks and bucks scoring under 50 pts. count as 50 points.

    4. Crossbows are allowed in states where legal.

    5. Final deer entry date will be Feb 28th 2007 - 11:59 pm. All deer must be entered by then.

    6. Elk, moose and bear WILL count as doe score (BUT ONLY 20 points, instead of 50) for participants who aren't allowed to harvest a doe in thier state.

    7. Bow kills only...no gun, as it is an Archery contest...see crossbow rule above.

    8. Mule deer will have a 20 point reduction in score.

    9. You can wait to enter your buck, but not recommended.

    10. Your bow must be somewhere in the picture.

    11.You MUST have fun!

    Keep it this way....Oh yea

    MATHEWS BOWS ROCK.[:D]

You got it right... no prizes. Keeps people a little more honest if there is no prize out there. Yes Taco and I won the contest last year, and it is all about bragging rights. Taco could have won the thing by himself with that monster he got! I just added a doe, but still it was a team competition.

Whats up with you what happend to practice paticence and persistance. are you telling us you let luck control your sucess. common now Mag chin up your better than that.

OH I'm still going hunting. I'm way too stubborn not too. It's just that I'm not going to get a deer. I see them when I'm not in the stand and see others get them a lot. But when I'm in the stand I'm lucky just to see 2-3 the whole season. The truth is the truth.

For the record, I DON'T like the brand teams idea. WAY too many of use shoot Hoyts and some other brand that starts with a "M" (can't remember the name but it's not important) [:o)]. How do we make it even for the brands that have only one or two shooters like Bowtech for example?

My .02 is to draw two man teams like last year. But I'll still be in if everyone else wants to do the brands.[;)]

I still think that there should be 2 or 3 man teams, but grouped by what bow we shoot as well. That way there are more bragging rights at stake.

You Bowtechers are just a quiet bunch(see my thread about ENOS). I think we can make it work somehow. I know there is a diamond or two here also, not regular posters but they are here. We can bunch ya maybe. Lets see what we end up with and then figure out how to group everyone. Heck, It may not work out but it sounds fun. Key word being fun!

If it gets ugly, and I ain't singling anyone out, but if this cant be fun then there is no point doing it. Let's see who wants to be in and what we got for shooters and then make a decision as a group. And since I started this last season, I mean I'll ram rod it and see what we got and take a majority decision, with bens help if he's up to it, since buckey nominated him as a judge [:D].

Hey Buckey, since I've added my $.02 on all this, and since you've came over to the dark side by buying the HOYT, you can take my two cents for the crappy mathews and donate it somewhere. I suggest beer & cash.

How you gonna tell if a doe in a trail cam is the same one someone kills? That one has me scratching my head.

I have a picture from my trail cam of a doe with a very distincive marking. She is missing her front right leg from about 2" below the "knee".[:(] I am truly hoping that I get a shot at her this year.

There has to be definitive proof that it is the same doe.

    2. Bonus points if you have a game cam pic. (must be no doubt it's the animal you killed. This could work with bucks or does if there is some way to tell it's the same doe.)[:D]

What about us guys that Don't use this?

What about totaling the top 5 deer from each team? Kind of like a livewell in fishing?

They have to be posted on here within 7 days of the kill, pictures of you, the bow, and the deer(of course). Keep the scores of all the deer, then take the top 5 from each team.

I can put together a spreadsheet once we figure out who the teams consist of and I can enter stats in it, we can make it a sticky, and I'll repost it each time it is updated.

    Just a couple ideas.
