On the road again.....finally.....like a country song, everything was a hiccup, but we prevailed!

The last trip we didn't take my car....so I didn't know the tow thingamajig didn't work the tail lights of the trailer like they were supposed to. So, when we hooked up things and found the problem I headed off to the dealership to get them to fix this problem for the adventure that starts tomorrow.

They started off telling me that they were going to have to order the part and the soonest it could be here was tomorrow. Its my luck....but, like a hard headed woman, I do not accept this answer and start working the options I can think of. Steal a part off of a car on the lot....they didn't have one anywhere on the lot. Find another dealership with one......none were showing up in the computerized inventory. So, the guy started calling around. The closest thing he found was an hour away.......so off I went! I drove over, got the part, and brought it back to them for them to put it on. They started to tell me they were "booked up" and couldn't do it.....I demand the manager and he comes out and says the WILL take care of it, but it will take some time. I've been there since 7am, its almost noon and I'm still not sure it will get handled.

Then I tell the manager that I expect to be reimbursed for the $100 part I just bought. He starts telling me that they are only covering the labor, and I start to lose my ever-lovin mind in front of everyone. I yell out that covering labor on a brand new part that should be under warranty isn't helping me at all and not to act like it is. He tells me the part they had on order would have been free, but my emergency wasn't something he could be responsible for. I tell him I had no idea I needed to have my brand new car checked out to make sure everything was ready to go and I was going on a trip tomorrow and I expected this thing to be ready.

He backpeddles a bit and tells me he will cover it, even if he has to pay out of his own pocket. I sit back down and wait for it to be ready. The lady next to me had been there for an hour ....just for an oil change. I have had an oil change and it didn't take that long, she was not happy. After she left, an older lady sat next to me and told me she had bought a red Rav4 with black seats and it was the first time she had ever done anything like that on her own. Her kids were a bit surprised that she hadn't consulted them or checked around about doing something like that. The service guy came to her and said next time she got her oil changed it would be time for tires, so he gave her a heads up on the price of tires.

She is a retired lady with limited income, so tires being over $800 was a shocker for her. I told her she should check on line for cheaper prices and make them match it. I pulled Sam's Club up on my phone and showed her what I found.....the same tires were $119 each. She physically grabbed my phone and took it over to the service guy and showed him. He said give him a minute and he'd help her. She came back and sat down and said "they always do this to women." I just chuckled because I think overcharging is done to everyone at the dealership, not just women.

He came back and said.....in April they always have a buy one, get one free, promotion so she should make sure to come then. He looks over at me and says....YOU are ready. So, my work there was done and I headed back home. It only took EIGHT hours and me showing my true colors to everyone in the place, but we are good to go!
