Won an Expensive Item, Sent Cashier's Check by UPS, now the Guy has Relisted it.
Won the second most expensive gun I've ever purchased on Gunbroker, casher's check payment. Sent to the Gunbroker address by UPS (it's a business), supposed to be delivered Today.
A little strange, the seller hasn't replied to my emails since completing checkout. I emailed him a picture of the cashier's check, and I emailed him the tracking number once I sent it out. So Today I go to drool over pictures of my new gun, and see that he's relisted it with a $15000 buy it now:
So I call his Gunbroker phone number. No answer. I call again, woman picks up, before I can say who I am she says wrong number and hangs up. I text the number after confirming it's correct, no response. I go online and of course there's no way to contact Gunbroker over the phone.
Gunbroker protection covers "up to $500", I have a $7800 cashier's check floating around the UPS system.
What should I do? Contact UPS?

DONT SUPPOSE THEY HAD 2?
Maybe the seller has two of them.
2 of 300 using the same exact pictures?
...When I purchase anything off the net, any site, I always use USPS money orders, somewhat of a pain but, if the MO never shows up anywhere, USPS will issue another for the same amount, which you can then deposit in your account....luck...
Might have been an auto-relist.

You CAN stop payment on a cashier's check. Contact your bank.
You can also redirect anything that hasn't been delivered.....I'd get that check coming back your way asap!
Seller reached out, he's redirected the casher's check to a UPS center for pickup citing "porch pirates". Package with cashier's check inside is still in UPS position.
Said he's not home and the phone issue is a misunderstanding. Provided a cell number. He said he's selling 5 identical builds. I'm still nervous, probably will be until the gun arrives, or doesn't.
That sounds reasonable....I've just seen some crazy scammers lately. So, I stay ready to judge people pretty harshly these days. I did send an email over to support asking them to watch this to be sure its not a scam....I couldn't help myself.
Seems legit. He's just assembling these and listing them one at a time with different reserves. You got in at the lowest reserve ($7K)...congrats. Enjoy your new rifle.
I emailed him about the currently listed one, he told me he had 5 of these built and that he was selling.

It is just me but for that kind of dough i would be tempted to drive there with a bunch of Benjamins in a shoebox.
Glad to see it's panning out for you.
I'm also Paranoid about my coins, especially when I see someone clam up and not respond in a normal respectful courtesy manner.
Other than Publishers Clearing House.
I won 500K from PCH and never did enter their contest but the PCH caller informer sent me a check for $4,600 to cash and send to him for taxes and handling fees.
I'm thinking about letting the Bank accountant or bank president handle the check cashing procedure and split the winning with the Bank.
I think the caller was from Ukrain.
Wow, we oh my, just before Xmas. Their is a Santa.
Really thought you were being scammed. Hope I am wrong. Hang in there and be patient.----Ray
I think its a scam. Reroute that parcel and get that MO!
It pains me to ask a stupid question, but seeing that this is not a class III weapon....why is it so expensive ?
Has something to do with the price. Don
Did the seller have a lot of A+ feedback? That is something which I always look at.
A few dozen A+, but a couple Fs (NPB) in 2020. A version of the rifle had been listed three times: 11/4 high bid $7500/reserve not met; 11/18 high bid $5500/reserve $7K; and 12/2 high bid $7k/reserve $7K...which Daily10Miles won. The latest listing has starting bid $10K, BuyItNow $15K, and no reserve. The "Item Description" was also changed...they removed "New, unfired, very rare Colt GLS Socom US Government marked Semi-Auto AR-15/M16. with 16" barrel." This change would concern me if I were a potential bidder on versions 2-5.
We should know in the next couple days. For Daily10Miles' sake, and my continued partially-shaken faith in humanity, I hope the deal - although likely overpriced - is on the up-and-up.
Sorry I didn't update this thread, the item was perfect, and the seller was above board.
