So sorry for your loss. He was one of my favorite people on here. We'll miss him too.

Thanks for the slideshow. Hope you stick around, David!

I am beside myself with emotion. What a huge loss to this forum. I learned much from him and enjoyed his contributions here immensely. I am, at the same time, happy to know of his eternal state in heaven. My prayers are with his family. Glad to finally know the explanation for his absence but sad to now know the full reason. I hope you will be able to find comfort in the great memories, David.

    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

@tnranger he taught me to be the same way about my faith.

I have to say man, I nearly cried when I saw that people were concerned about him, and your post

Its really made my day seeing everyone's reaction.

    @Butchdog2

Yeah, he was very proud of living here. And I am too!

If your son is coming to Kotzebue to hunt, let me know! Or send him to the firehall and tell him to ask for David :)

It's just starting to sink in a bit more every day. Like, a few times I've had a question and thought, "oh I'll ask dad-"

And then I remember. I take comfort in the knowledge that he's literally in a better place, and that that idea isn't just a comforting platitude, but a real thing

@Mr. Perfect I take the greatest comfort knowing that his day ended a whole lot better than ours did :)

He was greated by his father, and someday I'll be greated by him!

I will find out dates and locations.

Would be fantastic if the son of Nook could meet my son.

I called him Nook, never could figure out the Nanuq thing, grins.

We have a few other "second generation" forum members who have picked up where their dad's (sadly) left off. One of the 2nd gen member's is an active competitive shooter who established himself in the forums. As admin, I want you to feel free to participate in the forums to any degree that you feel comfortable.

“Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”

As a forum admin, I honestly feel this way.

    I will miss your dad.

So sorry for your loss. Many have said it far better than I can about how much he will be missed here.

Your Dad like to discuss cars on here and especially his Land Rover.

Damn.......I was fully expecting a complete recovery, for a sturdy guy like Bob/Nanuq. Being a short-timer on the board, I had noticed Bob's history of collegiate racquetball(they don't give out many scholarships in that sport)......and felt a bit of a connection, due to my own 40+ years in the sport.

David.......your dad possessed great technical insight, coupled with thoughtful reasoning.....on many subjects. Attributes that we all could aspire to.

Perhaps you could share a few of his "court" stories someday........I'd like to imagine that there are more than a few.

    R.I.P. Bob

I truly feel the loss of your father in deepest sorrow David. I have looked up to him for all that he contributed and all that he was to this forum and shared in many of his very enlightening, educational, historical, faith-filled, and entertaining posts. He brought a ray of sunshine to this place that will always be missed by me. Knowing the way Nanuq Bob always came to the support of others here that were facing great hardships in such a way that you could just feel that there was something very special about this man. I can honestly say that Bob downright inspired me on several occasions. Got me to pray a little harder and to look at things a bit outside the box. Yes! He did that!

There is no doubt in my mind as to where he is right now. God had work to do and Nanuq was hand-picked way back before he was even born to do this work.

David, I share with you and your family my condolences for your great loss and welcome you into our forum family. Hopefully, for many years to come.
