My rare trip to the mall today......

I avoid going to the mall in a nearby city as much as possible.. As long as you go early in the day, the number of "Mall People" is pretty low. Needed some new dress clothes for upcoming weddings and other functions. Since I retired my daily uniform is jeans or shorts and a T shirt. If I am going somewhere nice, I put on a golf shirt ! But some of these upcoming events will require a coat and tie.
Did my thing quickly at the only department store I can find "Tall" dress shirts, I grabbed some shirts and a couple pairs of dress pants. I then headed over to the ladies' section and helped my bride pick out a new dress.
So far so good. Then we had to go out into the main mall area and wow what an interesting sea of humanity. The usual families and young folks enjoying their summer. Then there were the homeless folks shuffling around the mall, some non aggressive panhandling and most of them sitting on benches and eyeing everyone....It is hot out today, so it is OK.. they are cooling off for a while.
Folks in walking gear circling the whole mall...(better stay out of their way) And then there are the hipsters or whatever they are called now. Weird clothing, tattoos from one end of them to the other (some rather inappropriate, or obscene)...Piercings everywhere possible on their faces and tongues... .Others folks in rather strange get ups, odd saying on their t shirts, things I think are meant to insult or incite others...
We got out of there as soon as possible and it will be a long time before I go back there....there really is nothing there I need for the most part...Just clothes from time to time.
I think I will just stick closer to the farm....I am the only weirdo hanging out there 😜

They can also stick their "No Guns" signs where the sun don't shine! I absolutely refuse to disarm to walk in a mall, too many "Mallrats" and gangbangers in there. Just as bad as Walmartians, IMO.

Based on my experience today, it is a place where people hang out that have nothing better to do !! 😉
Our only local clothing store is a Goodwill. 18 miles to a wally world & close to an hour to anything resembling a mall.
Like most of you I remember as a young fellow the malls were just amazing my buddies and even my wife to be use to spend hours Just meandering the stores a lille shopping and so many food courts all the morvie theaters just made a cheap way to waste a day and spent time with friends
Just watching people was a pass time back when just enought clothes got the girls by the too much showing codes lol
Spencer's was a place we always had to visit for the on the edge gifts and fun things and of course sears for all the tools
But over time they went down due to the new take over by the innercity groups and ther hostile actions loud and scaring the as in chased off the rest of the customers
I think there might be a couple still open most all closed up years ago buts it's Ben at least 20 plus years since we hav even talked about going
In there hay day they were awesome places now just another memory of how things use to be sad in so many ways

my wife works at/for the local mall, even so, since sears closed few years back I haven't been in the mall for years, only reason I went to sears was to replace craftsman tools. They just within the past few months went from 7 employees in the main office to 3, my wife was lucky and kept her job, she only needs 7 more years, but I doubt they stay open that long, I just hope they offer an early retirement package in a few years, she is mainly working just to keep her insurance.........
A few years ago in the next county over,the downtown area was dead and the mall was booming.Now the downtown is booming and the mall is dead.
Malls suck
I used to go with my late FIL to the mall just to walk around, eat at the food court, and sit and watch people on a bench in front of the Target store entrance.
Since he's been gone 12 years already, haven't been back.
Closest mall to me is 180 miles away. The closest Wally World is 25 miles away and takes 35 minutes to get there. I shopped at the one in Pocahontas today. First one I have utilized in over three years. Needed extra life vests (flotation devices) for the weekend and an anchor if we decide to fish in one spot.
