And there it was......an F150 Lightening. 80K +. I was lining up an oil change for my 2015 F-150 and took a look at the new one on the way out. One of the sales people came over quickly and said it was about time to trade mine in on a new one....
Every time I go in, they talk to me about trading in my truck and I just smile and say no thanks....Today I just simply said, not interested, not likely to ever want an electric truck and maybe in 10 years they will work out all the issues with overall range. That certainly let the air out of his balloon. He started in on the actual range and I asked if that was winter or summer, pulling a trailer or loaded etc. The answer was yes that will affect the overall range. I just smiled again and said, not interested, but I am sure someone will roll by soon and buy it...

there are many people who have trucks but never use them. to me those are the people the electric truck is for.................
I did chuckle to myself, when you look under the hood, it looks like a trunk in there....so I guess that just makes it more expensive to take all that out to get to the electric motor etc. when it needs maintenace
And short bed trucks are just grocery getters with a place to put the dog on the way into town.
I always ask them if they have any with 8' beds .. with no reply.
one of the local Ford Dealers has one ( F150 Lightening ) on their lot but they are not allow to sell it for 6 months , Ford wants it there for folks to see and test drive
I wonder how often you have to change the oil in one of them 'lectric rigs?
Denali commercial says they have one 740 HP and will travel 400 miles on a charge. Why don't they make a 375 HP one that will go 800 Miles?
i am not spending more than the cost of my first two home purchase prices combined for a pile of metal that will eventually end up as scrap turned into soup cans.
There is room under the "hood" for a can of gas and gas powered charger for when you get stranded.
All things considered, that truck would be just fine for me. The reason I drive a truck is only because I have 3 boys and I don’t want to drive a minivan.
My problem is, I can buy a whole lot of gas for the 80 or so grand they want for this new truck.
Here is a video of the F150 Lightning towing- it is totally inadequate.
So far so good with my wife’s electric Audi putting around town.
My question is if you need repair work who do you call, a auto mechanic or a electrician ??

You call a shrink and hope he can tell you why you bought the thing in the first place!
The 7 houses on our road overload the power lines here several times a year as it is. Add 12 or so 'lectric vehicles and we'd be reading by kerosene lamps and burning all the woods around here to stay warm!
What is this going to a dealership for an oil change??
It is a lot easier for me to drive to the dealership than to get up and down off the ground and under the truck ! I used to enjoy changing oil but all the fun is gone now…….
Arthritis has gotten to the point that getting up off the creeper is almost impossible. Getting down is easy, just turn loose and fall lol! I would rather do my own oil changes but the wear and tear on the body prohibits my doing so. Plus it costs me almost what they charge to do it myself .
+1 and I have a local shop that changes it for $48, synthetic and filter. I figure I would have at least $35 or so in the oil and filter, its not worth my time to try and crawl under and twist and fight with the oil change myself for $10 or so, and it is filed in their computer for any warranty issues I may have later.........
80K! Yikes, I thought the 31K for my Tundra was a fortune.
Every time I go to the dealership with my 2008 Highlander (with only 150k miles) they try to tell me how desirable it is and would I sell it to them? I just answer if it's that great a vehicle, whyinhell would I sell it?
I used to always change my own oil until I bought my KIA Sportage slightly used from the local KIA dealership. One of the perks buying it was 3 years of free oil changes, tire rotations, twice a year complete detailing, and a promise to be bugged consistently to trade the car in for a new one. I kind of got spoiled with those easy oil changes and continue to do so after that 3 year period expired. I now go to a dependable quick lube in town though.
Still have enough oil changing to do anyway with the 2 tractors, the gas powered golf cart, the generator, the power washer, the lawn mower, the snow blower, ...........CRAP! No wonder the car & truck go out for service!!
