Bad accident at work today. UPDATE
I have a gentleman, 73, that works for me as an installer. He was retiring this may. I get a phone call at 2, that he fell off a first floor deck at a house under construction. No guardrail. He landed head first on a couple of 6x6 post on the ground. He was bleeding from his ears and nose. He might also have a severe leg injury. The paramedics said he was not talking, but conscience and looking around. Hospital won't give me any info, as I am not family. His wife is in a rehab facility, basically with dementia, and his daughters live across the country. I have no contact info for them. I will update you guys when I find out anything more. His name is Karl, and he could sure use some really good prayers. I'm heading up to the hospital tonight , and will try to see him. Oak.
PS, my other mechanic took pictures of the deck and his injuries. By the time I got there, The builder had men installing a guardrail. Too little, too late.🤬. This builder is always spot on, but screwed the pooch on this one. I can't be mad at him, only because he is a safety freak, and it comes down to the guys who built the deck, as well as him. Right now, my biggest concern, is where he was bleeding from. Probably a brain injury, but hopefully just a sever concussion.
karl is doing okay today. He broke his coccyx bone, cracked a rib, but the best news is, NO injury to his brain and no concussion. They are keeping him in the trauma ICU until Sunday. He is having a lot of pain, trying to walk, and will go to rehab. He is worried about work. Sheesh buddy, just get better. He also talked to the builder and told him he is not going to sue him, just wants his medical paid. What a heart of gold. Thanks for all the prayers. This man has worked for me for thirty years.

When younger and worked construction
I had a chance to change careers and glad I did now
But i was skeptical i truly liked working out sode and some what in control of my self.
all my co worker said go for it look aroundthere's no to very few old construction workers you just wear out your body or get hurt
So I tip my hat to the fellow for hanging in there at 73 yrs young
Keeping you in our thoughts Karl
Even at 73 a little fall is a BIG deal, hope he's a tough one and praying he survives. Get ready for the government to jump in big time looking for some scape goats.

Prayers from SC! Really a mess that family can't be notified.
I've thought about Karl all day
Well, now you have proof he is "Hard-headed!"
"He broke his coccyx bone" --AKA "tailbone" -- I understand that's a painful break. Not many comfortable positions while it heals.
But that is good news. Those of us who have made into our 70's tend to be tough ol' birds!
Hope he's got some young female nurses!
Liking that update, heal fast Karl.
Thanks for the update.....prayers continue for Karl.......you too Oakie
It's great he's doing good and even better that he's not going to Lawyer up and go for the gold. It might be smart for both you and the contractor to get some preventative legal advice just in case.

Very fortunate. They need to keep him long enough to be sure there isn't any risk of blood clots traveling about.
Prayers sent from here.
Any further update, @Oakie
Nothing Joe. He was released from the Hospital last Monday, and He is not answering his phone. I think he might be in rehab. He mentioned something about it last time I talked to him.
Yeah, was wondering how the rehab was going. Tuff old bird. Hopes he heals quickly. Still thinking of you, Karl.
If you hear anything let us know please.
