The year we were stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood we hit a below zero snap. Van was having issues. I suggested the cardboard trick to my spouse. He thought I was nuts but tried it. It worked. Farm girl knowledge to the rescue.
Never got very cold here. Our lowest was -22 F and it's warm today at -10 F. We are supposed to get about 12 inches of snow tomorrow night though, but it will be really warm at about 22 above. And then it's supposed to hit near 40 above come Saturday. I guess winter is over.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I tip my hat to you tough people, I couldn't handle those temps. Currently down here in the Southern half of Georgia it's sunny, 65* (short sleeve weather) and I worked up a sweat breaking & fertilizing our garden spot early this morning.

I went out this morning when it was about 3° and only 4 inches of snow. Wore my insulated bibs and coat. Got all the chickens and goats fed and watered. Let the dogs out of the pen/doghouse combo on the deck so they could do their business. Spread some chicken scratch (seeds and grains) for the wild birds.
Should have worn my hoodie and not my coat. Was sweating by the time I came inside. At least I'm done for the day until time to gather eggs and shut the windows on the coops.
I told the ducks and chickens they were staying inside today. Not going to play egg hide and seek or be out there raking the fluff butts tonight.
I don't even bother with insulated bibs unless I am snowmobiling and then it's gotta be well into the single digits before I will don them.

-24 when I got up. Clear up to -17 now under bright sunny skies.

Do ya always go around tryin' to pick fights, JunkBaller?
Definitely not, I'm a pacifist 😃 & a spoken admirer of strong willed people who live in tough environments. 👍️

Now we wait and see if we get a “Chinook “ in last part of January early February.

Best part of below zero is no mosquitos.
Agreed, but it's driving all the scorpions inside the house...🤔

Personally I’d rather be in the Caribbean.
We lost power at 1:40am Saturday and it was cold and blowing 50mph gusts.
Was nice to hear that genny kick on.
Not sure of your setup but Generac makes battery and oil heater wraps that work if cold enough. Mine also has trickle charging on the battery.
If it doesn't have built in charging, I've heard of guys putting a battery tender on.
I cussed the install this past summer, but man it was nice to have heat the 13 hours the power was out.
Stay warm.
