Ever have someone pay for your meal at the drive up......

I stopped off at a local DQ for lunch today while I was out and about. I ordered a Burger, fries, a drink and a cone. When I got to the window to pay, the cashier said "The lady in the car in front of you paid for your meal" Wow….12.86. I looked behind me and there was one more guy in line.
So I said I'll pay for his. 14.67….. There was no one behind him so he was the big winner of the day….
This has happened to us a couple of times… Makes the drive up more fun… Anyone else ??

I was behind a lady at Taco Casa recently who seemed to be talking on the phone to her kids/grandkids while we were in the drive-thru line, adding to her order as she talked.
I think she saw me looking antsy in the rear-view mirror. She did take a long time getting her order, but when I pulled up to the window the kid said "she paid for your food", motioning toward the lady in the car that just left.
She pulled out into traffic and was long gone before I could thank her.
In a world where so many people seem unconcerned/inconsiderate of others, I was struck with her thoughtfulness, and felt ashamed of myself for cussing her out in my mind.
Good story !!!
Yes, same thing. Person in front paid for mine, they were driving out and got a wave in and same back. I took care of the lady behind me, it was fun and I looked in mirror and said lady had a big smile and a big wave-)
Kind a shocked the cashier didn't just pocket the cash.
Very nice. I have heard of it happening often . There are still a lot of good people around
, but being good does not make the headlines or sell the news
I was at a McDonalds….just trying to get some coffee before I got on the freeway. It was one of those two lane jobs and I was messing with my phone, so I didn't realize I was pulling out in front of the lady in the other lane before it was my turn to go. She gave me a NASTY look. I apologized and told her I was trying to get a map thing started on my phone. She went ahead of me and when I got to the window she had paid for my coffee.
I've heard about the line of people paying ahead….that is a sweet thing to do.
Never happened to me at a drive through but back when I was a working stiff and making a good living, I was out on the road and stopped at a family owned diner for some sit down lunch.
While eating I noticed a family of 4 having their meal. The youngest was in a high chair. The dad was dressed in an Army uniform with the insignia of a private. I finished my lunch and paid for mine and their lunches anonymously.
I do this a couple of times a year for no particular reason, and to no particular person (or type of people). I guess the mood just strikes me sometimes.
I overheard an elderly couple talking about how good the pecan and strawberry pies were at this place while they dined. But, when the bill came I saw them counting out their coins and such. As we were leaving, I paid for one of each and watched just out of sight as she delivered them to them. After first arguing that they didn't order it, then finally understanding that someone had gotten it for them, they had the biggest smile and youthful laughter. One would think they had just won the lottery. Seven dollars worth of pie made their day, but it made my week. :-)
My wife and I have both worked in fast food and retail industries early in our marriage. We remember how thankless it often is. Every year before Christmas, we get four $25 gift cards and a Christmas card and we'll give them to food service worker(s) that has made an impression during the year.
Would love someone to pay for our order in KFC drive thru. It's usually $54. Maybe some were going to, until they were told how much. Pretty cool of those who participate in random acts of kindness.
Yes I have.
And kicked my butt for not noticing who was behind me and not buying theirs.
you guys are lucky, I can't even get the wife to pay for mine……….
Never had that happen at a drive-thru but a couple years ago my wife and I were having a nice dinner downtown and when the bill came we saw that the crab legs we shared were paid in full. I asked the waiter and he said the folks next to us paid for them. The couple had already left so we had no chance to thank them.

We had a guy with his young son in line ahead of us at the grocery store. They only had a few items. As items got totaled the man told the checker he needed to put things back. He kept the can of dog food and cereal for his son but put back things he liked. His son says but dad you like those, dad you like that. The dad just put stuff aside. We told the cashier we would pay for all his items to let him have it. The man refused politely but we insisted. We told him he could have everything in our cart or we could go back in and shop with him. He refused to take anything more than his original few items. He was obviously very overwhelmed and embarrassed. We assured him there's no shame. He thanked us and hurried out of the store. We wanted to follow after him but didn't want to further his emotions, ect. We left it at that.
It was December one time years ago and a friend and I were having lunch at a local cafe. A middle aged guy using a walker came in and sat at a table next to us. We didn't know him but struck up a conversation with him and he said he had recently had surgery and this was his first time out. When I got up to pay, I picked up his slip on the way by. He said, "Hey, you can't do that!" I said, "I don't think you can run me down. Besides, it's Christmas time and I didn't get you nuthun' last year." I think that gave all three of us a good feeling, I know it did me.
Well done, all y'all
I have worked a drive thru at a fast food place……….it would be pretty hard to just pocket the cash
Pay with a card then. Air money can't be "pocketed."
like a lot of you who have not spoke up being modest I think that's true for a lot of us on here
Most every one I have done this for has said no at first out of self pride but then said thank you So much many were older people
The few dolars I have spent over the years , rings true the old saying beter to give than receive
Not sure if some one still does it, as i have not got the local paper or wath the local news much any more but For many years some one would go to the local Walmart(s) their is Two with in 15 miles of us .,in different directions and seemed to rotate stores each year
any way, a wek or two before Christmas, they would go in and pay everyone's toy layaways in full
I Always thought it was a splendid thing they did
I did have that happen once, took me by surprise. Made me think that there are still some nice people in this world. With the prices rising like they have, unfortunately, I look for this to become a dying practice.
Had a woman cut in front of me in the Starbuck's line. She came from the other way and probably did not realize she had cut in until we moved forward. When I got to the window I was told she apologized and paid my order.
I can't remember the last time I was in a drive through. That said, my wife and I like to put a few $100 bills in our wallets around the holidays and we'll dole them out as tips when appropriate.
We all have the power to influence others. We may not ever see that influence, but its still there.
Share that power. Something insignificant to you may be uplifting to others.
All these great experiences prove that. 😊
