If you had a 16 yr old girl...what kind of car?

I have been thinking over the whole.....vehicle....idea lately. She will not be mobile until December of next year so I am not even looking at buying anything now. I keep pondering the OLD TRUCK idea. I like the idea of the solid steel body between her and whatever she may plow into (praying now it never happens.) I don't like the idea of buying gas for a guzzler...and whatever we do end up getting will be driven a lot for certain.

Olds Cutlass
Pontiac Bonneville
Something about that size. She can get 28+mpg and they're pretty reliable. The 3.1 and 3.8L motors are bullet proof and run forever.

Every single one is a 16 year olds dream. [;)]
Might consider a Chevy Blazer. I had a '98 and got about 20 mpg. Decent size vehicle.
Edit: As a matter of fact, I know exactly where you can get one with low miles.
[:D]
Get her a viper, or a camaro, or a charger, or a challenger, or a duster, or something.
Make sure you tell her JACOB talked you into it so i get a ride in it [:D][:D]
Perfect Daughter Deanna was given wife's car - 2002 Subaru Legacy GT wagon - about the beginning of this school year - she's 17. This was against my wishes. She has no job. Is planning on going to the East Coast next year for college.
I think the truck idea is really the smart move.
Doug
parked in drive-ins for safety sake, a lot at night. Dangerous driving
at night, you know![:D]
My wife thought this was a nice present & it gets 33mpg.

Too bad it's not the Boxster S.
Plus....knowing the long distance she is likely to drive at times...I don't want to worry about break-downs, overheating, so I want to have something safe. I guess being from the deep south does a little to me that makes me want to treat her like my sweetie....and the bit of red neck in me wants her in a truck!
If she wants a girly car that is kind of cheap get her a used Chrysler Sebring, Mitsubishi Lancer or Eclipse. My friends mother drives a Suzuki
Aerio which gets good mileage and it is very roomy for its size.
You would be wise to go with a Buick LeSabre with NO power options - windows, locks, sunroof, etc, etc - just the basics. Transmission is about the only weak link in these vehicles.
Another option - cop car. Serious.
VW Jettas are very reliable with great gas mileage. I have a 91 with 42,000 miles on it and it gets about 30 MPG which is very nice right now.
Now that's a hot little chick car. I always see some fine looking women in Jetta's. [:D]
A 2009 or 2010.
If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!
Your daughter should be driving a 2006 Corvette convertible and wearing a string Bikini. Good investment maybe???
CP
while my wife and I worried hours
into the nite and I always kept
a supply of bondo and a cheap junyard's
telephone number handy. If i had to
do it all over again(God forbid) they
would be driving M1097a1's and I'd still
be saving money.
& it will only have 2 seats, helps them to consentrate on driving!!! not been a taxi...[;)]
1992 Geo Metro.
I'll sell her mine. Cheap[:D]
next, why are YOU buying her a car?
teach her to borrow and take care of yours.
if you have an old car, let her drive that one.
insurance is cheaper on old cars.
or, let her work for 1st car and let her buy her own.
and yes....let her buy her OWN insurance too.
welcome her to life the right way, dad.
be responsible so she will take care of her property later on.[;)]

Baring that, get her one that's missing a minor part or 2 (like the engine or transmission)
Does she want a truck or a girly car?
