and by "worst" i mean how does anyone actually believe them. the best one ever....and i have heard it alot.....is "an unloaded gun can still fire a bullet". this belief has also extended to toy guns. i always wonder how these things get started and how people continue to perpetuate them

A bayonet lug, pistol grip, folding stock and flash hider make bullets far more dangerous than those fired from hunting rifles.
good one.
Here's another one: exposing young boys to guns will make them violent.
(...idiot...)
this one nerd was convinced that "M16's are the most powerful rifle there is! ...because the Marines use them!"
(...idiot...)
However a marine and his rifle, is the most dangerous weapon in the world!
..."worst" ....is "an unloaded gun can still fire a bullet".
I don't see that as a myth, I see that as a perpetuation of the rule that you should always treat every gun as though it is loaded.
Ben
..gun control means less crime
...registration of guns means people wont use guns for crime
...if you have a system where you have to have a gun licence to have guns it stops people with a criminal history or people with mental ilness from getting guns
...if all guns are banned there will be no more robberies or murders or domestic violence
...if you have guns you are a potential mass murderer...
...the list goes on and on and on...
...and every gun owner in my country hears things like this every day from ignorant people and worst of all from ignorant stinking politicians!...

Maybe your reply should have read..
Guns are dangerous Liberals are our friends..
Glocks can go through a metal detector undetected.[^]
That would be the Glock 2!
1. Hollowpoint ammunition has magical stopping power.
2. Any handgun has magical stopping power.
3. .44 magnum is most powerful handgun in world (wasn't even true when Dirty Harry said it).
4. Glock (or any common polymer gun) defeats metal detector.
5. Semi-automatic military-APPEARING rifles are
a. commonly used in crimes.
b. have no use in civilian hands
6. Anything to do with "cop-killer" bullets. (IE to my knowledge there has never been a documented case of an American police officer being killed with armor piercing bullets).
7. Anything to do with .50 cal rifles. (IE there has never been a documented case of any violent crime being committed with one in the USA. . .who the heck is going to rob a bank with a four foot long 30 pound $3000 rifle?)
8. Guns are a common cause of accidental deaths in children (as one of many examples, far more kids down in swimming pools every year in the USA).
9. Guns holding 10 rounds are good. . .guns holding 11 or more rounds are bad.
etc. . .
"The Germans can use our ammunition but we can't use theirs."
"Only load five chambers in a single action revolver."
"The Japanese service rifle is not a piece of junk."
"The AR is a great service rifle."
"The P08 Luger was a great service pistol."
"A heavy caliber revolver is sufficient for a charging Grizzly or western Black Bear."
"Keep an empty chamber in a carry automatic and on a defensive slide action shotgun."

Have to disagree w/you on a couple here.
Only 5 rounds in a classic Colt style SA revolver was and is a good safety practice IF you carry it in a holster while riding horseback..
And not all Japanese Arisaka's were junk. In fact MOST of them aren't. While the Arisaka is of plain jane utiltarian design, at the time of WW-2 it was the strongest bolt action rifle action in the world.
The myth was largely started by U.S. troops picking up Japanese trainer rifles from Arsenal stock piles (not battlefield pickup) after the war. Rifles that were intended to be used w/BLANKS ONLY, and clearly marked as such IN JAPANESE. And then attempting to fire live rounds in them w/predictable results.
And to a lessor degree by the "Last Ditch" T-99 Arisaka's that were produced by Japanese cottage industry after the U.S. had bombed Japanese arsenals/Mfg centers. While these late war rifles are obviously of much less quality MFG than the earlier produced rifles and there have been reported failures. It is a very low percentage.
Your statement is akin to saying that ALL 1903 Springfields are junk because some have brittle receivers.

Only a Glock 7 but they cost more than you make in a month.

yippie-kai-yay
Have that BS is just about every computer game I've played, annoying as hell.
side note: I think that the "even an unloaded gun can shoot" phrase is a saying to make rookies treat all firearms as if they were loaded, lest they decide to dryfire an "empty" gun that actually has one in the chamber [V]
There are a probably a lot of other theories seen in cartoons that will work though if someones just willing to give them a try.
"Assault" rifle
I WISH that the MP-44 Sturmgewehr was a myth,
then all of those nazi-loving kiddies who play "Call of Duty" multiplayer would have to use a Mauser or MP-40 instead of their cheater gun and I would kill more of them with my trusty Garand [:D]
