...and your alternative to a qualified trained dentist is...infected gums, rotten teeth, no teeth or dentures, infection, death. So, I guess we are paying him for the years he took to get trained and develop his skills. I have no problem with that. A craftsman is worth his fee. [:)]
Yeah, well, the last time I saw a dentist was 1988. Haven't had a problem since then, and I can clean my own dang teeth thank you.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
The entire visit was about $110, which I paid using my flexible health care spending account, so that $110, i did not pay income taxes on [:)]
Over 2K for a root canal and a crown on it last week. Probably all together 2 hours work.
So that would be 4 years for the undergrad, then 4 years for dental school, then if the man or woman is an oral surgeon it's 3 to 6 additional years on top of all of that.
The guy who digs a ditch in your yard does 2 hours of work for you. The guy who did your root canal did 8 to 10 years of work for you.
Got plenty of teeth to spare and don't smile anyway. Not sure why I did it, but I am blaming it on the well formed dental assistant that liked to reach over, instead of walking around. Her and the 8 shots the dentists gave me had me befuddled to the point of bad judgment. Shoot, they could have talked me into buying a Ford, I was so loopy.
To top it off we were also given a referral to a orthodontist for braces also not covered by our insurance.
$1200 for root canal, another $900 for the fitted crown. Should have paid $65 to get it yanked and went to a good lunch on the way to the gun store to buy $1500 worth of something made from wood and steel. Still would have $500 for a bulk ammo purchase.

Don't you mean Chevy? [:D]

The Hospice nurse (RN) who visits my mom 4-5 times a week charges $185 for a 15 minute visit.
That's $740 per hour for the mathematically challenged.
I truly appreciate their work but MY GOD!!

Yep, except 1972 for me.
