I've never advanced past using a sharpie to draw triangular eyes and a crooked mouth.
You definitely exceed at pumpkin carving. Very cool and amazing carvings.
Thanks for sharing.

demons and anything related to the dark side & MJ either[:(!][xx(][V][:(]
Halloween is supposed to be scary.
If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

I love the work with the light. The hue of the rind is amazing. How did you ever get those pics?
Lighting requirements are a little different for carvings like these. A bright, steady light is required; candles are sometimes inadequate to illuminate the parts that have been merely scored (but not cut all the way through). Two small flashlights are mounted on the sides of the interior. This way, you don't see the flashlights when standing in front of the pumpkin.

I'm assuming you 'won' whatever competition you entered them in. They are truly second to none!!
I haven't done any competitions. Locally, I am not aware of any contests that cater to this caliber of work.
Where ya been?
I just made a post about a year ago, bemoaning the loss of several interesting members, and you were among those that I listed.
Well that is some great pumpkin carving, you might have a new career if you get tired of being a lawyer.
Didn't you at one time post some pics of yourself wielding a Samurai sword?

Oh no, you just scared Noah! Now he's going to have to jump on his ship and sail away.
Noah, come on now, don't be so sensitive. [;)]
Here's some local talent. Guess which one I "supervised"?
The one on the right, with what looks like 3 eyes[8D]?
FS Great work.
This year, I carved Cthulhu from H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. I used my own pattern. It took seven hours to prepare and carve the pumpkin.
Looks like a mind flayer (Illithid).
Very nice work.
Looks like a mind flayer (Illithid).
It does!

Mind flayers were created by Gary Gygax, who has said that one of his inspirations for them was the cover painting of the book The Burrowers Beneath by Brian Lumley, a story grounded in the Cthulhu Mythos created by H.P. Lovecraft.
Halloween is supposed to be scary, and Noah forgot the great wisdom of Sgt. Hulka: Lighten up, Francis!.
Thanks for the pics
This year, I carved Severus Snape (as portrayed by Alan Rickman in the films) from J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. I used my own pattern on a natural pumpkin.
Sectumsempra would be a fitting title for this piece, as it took about four-and-a-half hours to prepare and carve the pumpkin (not including the time spent making the pattern).
Severus Snape (2014)
just plain amazing , that's some fantastic work and effort.
Crop failure in 2012?
That wasn't a crop failure but a carving failure. (I experimented with a new technique, and it didn't work.)
This year, I carved Pennywise the Dancing Clown (as portrayed by Tim Curry in the miniseries) from Stephen King's novel It. I used my own pattern on a natural pumpkin.
It took eight hours to carve (including prep time but not pattern making time).
