Isn't their a few of those? I may have to weed out some of my less well liked movies,to make room for the Lonesome Dove trilogy!
How The West Was Won Title may be wrong, but the one where James Garner is constantly saying he's 'trying to get to California'-Col. Potter (MASH) as mayor

That was Support Your Local Sheriff I think.
Not a weak or poor performance in the entire cast.
Realistic, gritty, believable.
My favorite Newman movie.
There is one movie -- ONE MOVIE -- that is on the shelves in every ranch house, bunk house, and single-wide trailer house in the American West. It is THE Cowboy movie.
It is "Conagher," with Sam Elliot and Katherine Ross.
Coincidentally, the Mrs. (an impressive cowgirl herself, but that is another story) and I watched it last night. I have to say the story, setting, filming, clothing and equipment leave little to criticize.
As for story line, it is the "perfect cowboy movie."
If you've never seen it, then rent it tonight. Better yet, buy it.
JUST HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!

Appaloosa--bet carrying that 8 gauge shotgun all day was a chore
Geronimo:An American Legend
Last Stand at Saber River--another Tom Selleck western
The Magnificent Seven
Death Hunt--my fav Broson movie--kinda at the tail end of the Western era but still a great movie.
Whatever you do run FAR away from the hands down worst Western I've ever seen--The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford---a more boring movie I've yet to see than this stinker.
nobody remembers One Eyed Jacks and The Appalosa- Marlon Brando?
"Do jou have strong arms , senor?"

Fishkiller: keep looking! It might not be popular worldwide, but it is iconic among cowfolk. Elliot is believable, like Wayne was.
